Omnia 7 is the most underated phone at the moment. It has all the spec of Samsung Galxy S, including 4" of Super AMOLED and 1GHz CPU, yet available from Singtel at $98 instead of $438 (there about) with most basic plan. Just that you have to get used to WM7 OS, which is not difficult at all. Only thing compare to Android and iOS not that much apps at the moment, but improving alot as now gearing for Mango update at end of the year. To me, its potential will be unleashed when Mango is released and you will be happy that you got it cheap. But even if you do not download apps and use it as a 'dumb' phone, it is still a very good phone.

i will ONLY buy if some dev managed to port android to Omnia 7. then cheap android ftw!

tablet wise, shouldn't you look to Honeycomb ie android 3.0 with UI optimised for tablets per se. Gingerbread is so passe. i am sure there are leaked stock roms out there definitely of European firmware origins. Custom roms not sure. not into tablets

Yah how I wish Samsung would be kind enough to provide update to Honeycomb, but would beasking too much. And I not into jailbreaking, rooting, etc, that kind of stuff as the current Gingerbread flavour serves me well enough.

Passe or not, it is good enough for my leisure use. I just glad to have a portable personal internet access that is so portable and quite flexible. Currently all the honeycomb tablets are all of 10", too bulky for me.

I don't quite understand what you meant. WM7 and Android are different platform, same for iOS. So can do porting from one platform to another? [confused]

If you refer to compatible apps, then it really depend on the new Microsoft and Nokia alliance, whether it will bring about major changes to the WM7 apps market. If it does happen, then the value of WM7 phones will go up sharply. Do not expect them to be sold at $98 like now. Now is really a steal.

There have been smartphones running WM that have been flashed to run entirely on Android. Flash from WM to Android is there. So far from iOS to Android never encountered. But WM 6.5 really sucks so quite a number of ports exist for different phones.

Guys..... Overcome "Jupiter" is out.... go grab....

Fixes all the problems faced with "Icarus".

Feedback is very good so far... will be upgrading from my "Hermes" when I get the time.

Just did the flash to Jupiter version of the Overcome firmware. I must say that this would probably be my last flash for the Tab.

Gingerbread is good but the TAB got laggy after a while. In fact, very laggy these few weeks to the point that my patience is wearing very thin.

But i am happy again after upgraded the firmware today. Now much much much more responsive. You should try it if have not done so.

it will still lag after a while. i am on SGT gingerbread for a month liao.. root and overclock, it will still be laggy after a while.

have to routinely clear stuff or switch off and on the tab to maintain the speed

The last few firmware upgrade has seen negligible improvement compare to this one. Really hope it will solve the laggy problem once and for all.
