F1fan Neutral Newbie August 5, 2011 Share August 5, 2011 Any downside to this? Will it warped or come off easily under the sun or prolonged use? Find cubic printing to expensive. ↡ Advertisement
Vinyl 5th Gear August 6, 2011 Share August 6, 2011 (edited) If you use 3M or Oracal products, no downside at all. Those products are meant for outdoors, shrinkage will be minimal but cast film shrinks the least. In terms of durability in outdoors, it will rank like this 1. Cast film (E.g. 3M Series 1080) Also the most costly, but it can last for 5 to 8 years. 2. Polymeric (E.g. 3M DI-NOC Carbon Fiber) 3. Monomeric (E.g. Oracal 651) Car wrap films are meant for outdoor usage and there is no chance of it falling off if it is properly taken care of (assuming good workmanship). For interiors, as it is least exposed to UV, it will last even longer, no/minimal discolouration over time, it will last 10 years without issues(also assuming no problems with workmanship). Hope this helps. Edited August 6, 2011 by Vinyl
F1fan Neutral Newbie August 6, 2011 Author Share August 6, 2011 Thanks. Who provides wrapping services with good workmanship for internal panels using 3M or oracal?
Vinyl 5th Gear August 7, 2011 Share August 7, 2011 (edited) I have PM-ed you the name of the installer as I'm not sure if I'm allowed to publicise for any installers in this forum. However, just like you to know that many installers are concern about wrapping interiors due to fear of damage during the removal of interior panels. Like to point out that there are imitation Oracal carbon fiber (poor quality adhesive: possible damage to paintwork) in the market, so it is better to pay abit more for 3M carbon which can easily last for 10 years. How to identify fake Oracal CF: Imitation has "Orajet" printed on the liner paper Genuine Oracal carbon fiber and "Oracal 975" is printed on the liner paper Edited August 7, 2011 by Vinyl
