GR-90 Side Threads

Hi,

My gr-90 are 40k km old now. All the tyres' side thread (lateral grooves) looks bald. Is this normal due to the thread pattern ? Or under inflation ? The circumferential grooves are still deep at about 40% left.

Please comment.

TIA !

At what kilometer interval do you get tyre rotation done?

No mention if found on all tire

No mention if found only on front tire

No mention if found on outboard side of all tire

No mention if found on inboard side of all tire

Could be done by cornering at higher speed?

Could be under-inflation?

No mention if found on all tire

==> all tyres

No mention if found only on front tire

==> front & back

No mention if found on outboard side of all tire

==> outboard side, as rotation front and back

No mention if found on inboard side of all tire

==> as above

Could be done by cornering at higher speed?

==> exit expressway at 60-70km/hr not considered high right ?

Could be under-inflation?

==> usually pump 5-10kpa above the recommended 230kpa

Yes. Most of the time at 3 storey high.

okie, its the MCSP. whenever you go up, and come down from the MCSP, its only 1 side of the tyre that was worn...

Oh... i am on GR90 as well.

Could it be all 4 wheel out of alightment? Need to perform some toe-in toe-out adjustment?

Quite likely. I haven't had any alignment done since the very first time I drove it.

yup. i suspect it's due to alignment issue.

issit one side of the tyre is okay while the other side (same tyre) is botak? if yes, your alignment is not right.

if both sides are botak, maybe your pressure is not enough.

also need to take into consideration your rim size and tyre profile.

higher rim size + lower tyre profile = very fast botak

for big rims with low profile tyres, it is recommended to do high speed alignment.

show us some photos to ease the evaluation.

Since you do rotation quite regularly, did the tyre shop guy tell that there is something wrong or it's time to change tyres?

If it looks liked cupped tyres, then probably your shocks needs to be replaced

If it looks like excessive wear on one side, it could be bearing or camber issues.

Run a check on google for cupped/excessive wear to verify which is the case for you.

For GR90 tire at 40K is normal to be bald. It time to change your tire regardless to circumferential grooves conditions.

You may loose grip on wet road. Be careful especically current monsoon season
