Hi all,

Sorry got a noob question here. Is it possible to get road tax rebate, refund, etc if you are going overseas for a couple of months and the passenger car will not be in use during that period?

Tried reading LTA/Onemotoring website but cannot get any info on this. Anyone here knows if it is possible?

Regards,

Kian Soon

You can apply for laid up of the vehicle. Look under One Motoring and you should be able to find it.

Not worth if it's a less than 10-year old car and duration is few months only.

Once laid up, no ARF rebates when scrapping.

Hi bro,

Thanks for the info. Think this is no a viable option as the car is less than 10 years old.

Pssoible if "HOLD UP" the car BUT still need to meet the set rulings and also need to repay back to LTA the amount if you want to re-use your car BUT don't forget the 2 times admin fees & also need to send your car for inspection . In summary, what's the point ?

"Hold-up" means apply with LTA for suspend usage of your ride for a period of time but the cons were need to send your ride for Inspeciton priopr to apply for re-usage of the roads & required to pay 2 times Admin fees and follow LTA detailing rulings etc. (Your saving not much or even not economical at all and need to spend some times for documentation etc)
