IMHO if you ask this type of questions in private with just a few folks in good faith, I am sure no one will be alarmed and your queries may even be answered warmly and clearly with no harm done.

However I will think thrice about posing such questions openly, certainly not in an internet forum where the most ignorant query with the nicest of intentions or sincerity may rub off people wrongly and solicit negative responses.

talking about Islam than other religion such as christianity or buddism or taoism etc..?

during conversation when friends and colleagues who are christians and buddist, some of us who are non-believers will always try throw questions about their religion.....and all of us will engage in quite an interesting debate.

but when it comes to talking with our muslim friends/colleagues, we are always very cautious about what we say?

Why is it?

If you ask a valid question that provokes curiosity then i'm sure we muslims will try to provide the most accurate answer as possible. For example, "Why Muslims can't eat pork?".

I also don't mind debating about religion as long as its within context. I've had tough questions posed to me as a Muslim that i couldn't answer on the spot; but it makes me yearn to find the answers.

ok here is one...why is it that when you fall for someone who is not a muslim and decide to get married, why it is always the other party who has to convert. why cant you convert instead (to christianity or anything else)?

阿彌陀佛.....施主。。。。愿你早日得到安息。。。。。 [laugh][angel]

I don't think Buddhism is a religion, although in secular Singapore, it is defined as such for administrative and governance convenience.

I read that Buddhism is considered more of a "philosophy of life" rather than faith-based system without the demand of worshiping a single "devined being"....kinda like what Steve Jobs was looking for.

Do u know there are minority cases whereby the muslim converts instead? Yes even to Christianity.. But it is quite rare la, even in Singapore.. So now that u know, stop asking such questions online, unless u really want that last yellow.. [rolleyes]

If u are really so curious, ask your Muslim friends directly.. Well, thats if u have any to begin with... [laugh]

This is not a forum for asking religious questions. I think there are qualified muslim scholars for you to do that.

Agreed.I find that as long as it's not stepping over the line.

By asking and learning thru from the person who is from another race or religion is better than all the hearsay.
