I have this habit to put my drive to neutral at traffic lights and apply my foot brake.

If I were to continue this habit, does the idling stop function still work?

So you are experiencing some lag between idling stop and stepping on your accelerator?

My colleague was sharing with me he almost knock onto the curb at the slope into his condo when the guard took longer than usual to open the barrier and his idling stop kick in. And then his steering could not work and engine not started in time and his car rolled forward.

It seems the idling stop is activated by the stepping on of brake pedal, provided the battery is having enough current for powering the aircon and sound system. So as long as you are applying your foot brake, the idling stop will kick in regardless whether the gear shift is in drive or neutral position. The moment you lift your right foot from the brake pedal the engine will restart.

Take note:

(1) You need to step slightly harder on the brake to activate the idling stop. If you just step very lightly, the idling stop may not kick in;

(2) If the battery is in the high drain conditions such as full blast of aircon when the cabin is very hot, the idling stop also may not kick in.

The lag between the idling stop and moving off is only momentarily and as Stepwgn2015 said, you will soon get used to it.

Two separate coolers thus two separate fans. The single fan design is old technology liao.

Thank you..but not really old technology, I think the new Sienta still using single fan..those smaller cc cars like Axio, Fielder, Rush, etc using single fan.

I guess they must be putting the aircon refrigerant cooler and the engine water cooler back-to-back and attach one electric fan on each sides (front and back), due to space constraints in the engine bay of these cars. So they may appear to be single fan (but actually there are two fans).

Invested $2.30 on a cheap USB-microSD connector, and I'm delighted to find that the multi-function steering wheel allows me to select and play (and also control the volume) from a massive 570 songs when my lowly Pioneer 2750 HU is connected to a tiny 4GB micros card.

Oh no, the reason why I am having a habit of putting it to neutral gear is so that I could take my foot off the paddle.

So if I do that, the idling stop will not kick in then  [laugh]

Nightjar,

U said your HU is loaded with GPS map.

Does that mean that your HU has an external GPS module?  Can you see any GPS antenna?

Or does your GPS runs from your handphone?

I went around asking about build-in GPS with Pioneer HU, all the shop guys said that you need to have an external GPS module attached, which cost about $200++.

Oh maybe you can explore after collecting your ride to see if there is any other method to rest your foot during red lights or similar situation?

I think my HU has an external GPS module since there is a little plastic box placed next to the front left tweeter cover:

Actually I did not do any research on accessories before booking the Stephen. I merely told the PI that I wanted a good HU with integrated GPS, and he said no problem to that. It is only after collection then I found out it's Pioneer AVH-X2750BT which is not so high end.

Vinljp,

I read from the HK Stepwgn forum that there is an owner who bought a GPS module for Kenwood from the China online website Taobao for RMB500 (roughly about S$100) and got it fitted locally by a HK audio installer, and he is very happy with the result. Perhaps you can try your luck on getting a GPS module for Pioneer from Taobao?

Watched the civic video on engine and transmission development in the 2016 civic. Can really appreciate the effort and step change from Honda this time. Ok, admit that I'm a fanboy but it feels great to be getting this combo in an MPV! Excited and I think the next civic is a real winner.
