  1. Have you ever watched a car accident video and told yourself in your head that “heng ah, it wasn’t me or someone I know”? I guess it’s human nature. The truth of the matter is – Even if you’re the safest driver in the world, all it takes is just one idiot driver to mess it up for you. So what happens if it happens to you or someone within your social circle? Read on to find out. Sometime in the evening yesterday, 28th November 2019, I received a message from one of my closest friends. It was an image of his heavily damaged Honda Freed. That’s how heavily damaged it was. The cause? This Lorry. It was a pretty bone-chilling sight, but the fact that he was messaging me meant that he was fine, so that was a relief. Eventually, he sent over the video footage of the accident. The video includes both the rear and dashcam footage. In the video, my friend, the Freed Driver, let’s call him Jeff, for privacy sake, is filtering into an expressway. A lorry follows suit, loses control and charges straight into the back of the Freed, shattering the glass on the rear windscreen. Also, that's a damn loud bang. In the car There’s no in-car footage, but you can hear a brief exchange of conversations between three people in the car – Jeff and his two passengers. Jeff and the other guy were worried about whether anyone was injured, but the lady, presumably in shock, could only think of one thing. She was carrying Thanksgiving potluck food with her when the crash happened, and you can hear her go “Oh no! The gravy casserole’s everywhere!” Whut? Image taken from bigover.com This is what Casserole looks like. Anyhoo, I’m glad all parties are fine. RIP Casserole. You perished so that others could live. The best Thanksgiving dish yet.

    Honda City 4th Gen

It's just launched in Thailand. So ours should arrive soon too I suppose. http://paultan.org/2014/01/23/2014-honda-city-launched-in-thailand/ Looks to me that a high spec City is all the car that most people would need. 6 airbags, VSA, cruise control, rear a/c. Looks like no sunroof for Thai cars unlike India. It's amazing how 'low end' cars have so much kit these days (case in point:the Kia K3)! This level of equipment used to be only in much higher end cars.

    New Honda Shuttle 2015

Replacement for the Fit Shuttle, but I guess Honda decision to drop the "Fit" moniker in attempt to make the new model a class above the Fit. IMO, this is a decent model (in look and size) comparable to the Airwave.
  8. Since everybody has started thread on which cars/models they used... i might as well start one too. so..generally all honda owners... pls check in 1. Redz - Honda Stream (2004) 2. 3. 4.

    Respray or new bumper/bodykit?

Hello. Would like to seek some opinions here. Thinking of respraying my car as the paintwork is turning yellowish and there are paintwork damages (stone chips, dings and dangs) on the bumper. Previous owner also used liquid paper to try to mask up the stone chips. If I were to respray on the current bumper, after refibre/putty+respray, would there be a risk of the paintwork cracking after sometime? Or would it actually be wiser to replace the bumper with a good condition secondhand one followed by respray? I'm keeping my options opened. May be a good time to change new bodykit as well but not exactly familiar with the different types.

    2016 2nd Generation Honda Freed

Wow... 2016 freed is bigger and better!
  13. Hi all gurus. Summary of my case: Involve in an accident in 2017 and paid up for my own repair first although I am claiming the other party. 2 years on, the Workshop tells me that there is no update on the claim and they will keep my 2k deposit until the other party insurance get back to me. A more detail write-up I was being hit by another car (supposingly rented) in June 2017. So based on my friend's father advise, I went to a Workshop in Woodlands Road to make the claim against the other party. I am pretty inexperience in this area so I just follow the advice by the Workshop Boss. He told me that he is an ex-SPF and Hwa Chong grad or something, and all his friends are lawyer etc. So he knows the stuff and will handle it for me. Long story short, he mentioned that it is a 50-50 case. In fact the chances of me claiming successfully is not high according to him. So he requested that I pay him for my own car damage upfront (about $2k) and if the claim is successful, he will refund me the 2k. In mid 2018, the other party have claimed my insurance. As for my claim against the other party, the workshop mentioned that there is no update. Till date, they are still holding on to my 2k. So I asked the Workshop Boss to email the other party insurance company and get back to me on the status but he refuses and chided me for being ungrateful because he is actually helping me in a 50-50 case. I explained to him that I am asking him to do so only because I am unable to do so. I have tried getting an update from the other party insurance but they ask me to go through my authorised workshop. So my question is Is there any way I can get an update on my claim status against the other party without the Workshop? Is it possible that the Workshop have forgotten to claim the other party it is too late to claim now? Thanks all. I am really at a lost now on what to do because the Workshop refuses to assist me yet the other party insurance request that I follow-up with my authorised workshop directly.

    2018 Honda Accord

Teaser released. Global debut next month. Hope this would be as fun to drive as the CL7. http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1111103_5-things-to-expect-from-the-2018-honda-accord
  15. https://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_overview.php?CarCode=11503 Like take Honda Vezel. Does the $92k include COE? What are the other costs we need to look out for in a new car purchase?
  16. My COE car dun have aux input, which is a no no in the modern times as I cannot play music from gadgets such as phones and ipods, etc. Hence completed a simple upgrade to improve the flexibility of the existing sound system and make full use of the speakers and tweeters which are pretty decent and good enough for me. I share my humble and cheapo DIY project with fellow bros. Appreciate suggestions if can improve the "setup", make it neater or more presentable. Hahahaha

  18. NOTE: I am required by MCF forum software to pick a "Related Car Brand" - and hence went with the one which I see the most regular occurrence of. This is by no means a flame or "axe-to-grind" post. Do you ever notice, ever so often, that a car's headlights are not turned on even though it is pitch black as coal in the sky? I certainly do, and I confirm this by looking at the most obvious tell-tale sign - their rear license plate lights. If you notice, when you do turn on your headlights meant for illuminating the road ahead of you, your rear license lights will turn on. They will not turn on if you are on DRL (or low light) mode. So why am I raising this topic? Because I am finding that more and more modern models from Honda, Toyota, etc. are traveling on the roads at night with no headlights on! And I attribute this to the fact that the instrument clusters of these vehicles are lit up regardless whether the headlights are on or not. Back in the not-so-long-ago times, the instrument cluster would only light up if you turned your headlights on. But with the new digital instrument clusters, or forever-light-up-like-Christmas analog clusters - careless drivers are driving around without any lights, and potentially might cause harm to themselves, and other unwary/unobservant road users. I keenly remember that my aunt's old Corolla Altis from 2004 already has auto-headlights as a default setting in the light stalk. Is it really that difficult to swivel it over to "A" for safety's sake? Also, no matter how cool or bright your DRLs are - they do not replace the headlights. What do YOU think? Let's talk about that.

    Toyota Wish or Honda Stream

I want to purchase either of them.2006 or 2007. Which is better and what are the things to look out for.
  21. Honda's a genius in churning out state-of-the-art small cars. Here's why. The 2014 Honda Jazz is 4cm shorter but it offers 138 liters more cabin-space volume and nearly 13cm of extra rear legroom - compared to the predecessor. Here's how Honda engineers eked out extra room in a shorter car. For starters, Jazz's wheelbase has been stretched further apart by 3cm allowing its rear seat bench to move back outwardly by 7.6cm. Next, engineers made the centrally-mounted fuel tank located beneath the front seats thinner liberating more space for passengers but retains the same liter-volume as previous models. Plus, the new Jazz could be served in a hedonic shade of lemonade yellow to go with its packaging.
