    FT discrimination agst locals

She's offended before: http://www.tremeritus.net/2020/01/14/a-bizzare-case-of-a-pr-submitting-a-forged-educational-transcript/ In any case, this does not appear to be her first brush with the law. In 2012, De Luna was charged and fined $50,000 for setting up and running 2 unlicensed employment agencies. In July 2010 – then described as a PR in the media report - she was issued a licence by the Ministry of Manpower to operate an employment agency, RSD Consultancy & Services. Even though she had an existing agency license, she proceeded to set up another employment agency – NWCD Consultancy & Services – without a license. This was run by her husband, who was then on a social visit pass. In July 2011, the license of RSD Consultancy & Services’ had expired but De Luna did not renew it as she was being investigated by MOM. Despite ongoing investigations, she nonetheless proceeded to set up a second unlicensed agency, Impact Manpower, using a nominee director and applicant. In any case, it seems that De Luna’s earlier application for PR status was successful given that the 2012 media report described her as being a “PR”. Whilst being a PR, it is equally curious that her forgery came to light only after 8 years, and the subsequent charge took more than 2 years. Was her PR not revoked after the fine?

  5. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-iran-crash-canada-intelligence/western-intelligence-agencies-see-no-signs-ukraine-airliner-was-shot-down-canadian-source-idUSKBN1Z72Q7 Western intelligence agencies see no signs Ukraine airliner was shot down: Canadian source OTTAWA (Reuters) - The initial assessment of Western intelligence agencies is that a Ukrainian airliner which crashed in Iran on Wednesday was not brought down by a missile, said a Canadian security source. The source, who declined to be identified, said the agencies believed the Boeing (BA.N) 737 plane had suffered a technical malfunction. The Ukraine International Airline jet crashed shortly after takeoff from Tehran, killing all 176 people on board. The disaster occurred shortly after Iran launched a series of missile attacks against two military bases in Iraq that housed U.S. troops. “The initial assessment of Western intelligence agencies is that the plane was not brought down by a missile. There is no evidence to suggest that,” said the source. ==== Of course, now blame everything on Iran and Russia.
  6. Apparently he had a small group of musicians come to his house on Christmas and left in the double bass case! The person seen leaving the house alone could have been a body double.
  7. Accident scammers prefer lane 1. Low risk of injury to themselves.
  8. One owe us money but drive in and out: I stayed overnight in the outskirts of JB last month. Saw locals (Malaysians) being loaded into a half-dozen Hyundai Starex and similar vehicles at one location next to a large kopitiam one morning at about 9:30am. The 'tourists' had breakfast in the kopitiam, then were ushered into the vehicles by the drivers. Whole lot then left in the direction of Tuas. Didn't look like tourists: most were couples in the late 50s and 60s, with no luggage, shopping bags and no kids. None in office wear so not foreigners or Singaporeans living in JB and working in Singapore. For all we know, they are money-laundering mules paid by a syndicate to clean up illicit funds at the casinos here. Say, give each S$9,900 (no need to declare), change into chips at the casinos, let them keep $400 (and whatever winnings), and you get $9,500 in clean money at end of casino visit.

Najib Announce VEP for Spore cars!

https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/vehicle-entry-permit-on-hold-as-many-singaporean-vehicles-still-without-rfid ☺️ The vehicle entry permit (VEP) on all outbound traffic at Johor's Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex continues to be deferred because a high number of Singapore-registered vehicles have yet to install the radio frequency identification (RFID) tag. Road Transport Department director general Shaharuddin Khalid said based on their records, more than 230,000 Singapore vehicles have registered for the VEP. "However, only about 60,000 of them have installed the VEP-RFID, and we are targeting to get the remaining balance within the first six months of the year," he told reporters after officiating the Road Transport Department Station, the third in the country, at the Pagoh rest and service area (south-bound) along the North-South Expressway. He said the department had received a positive reaction from Singaporeans to get their VEP-RFID tags to enter the country via the Johor-Singapore Causeway and Second Link. "Singapore-registered vehicles know the importance of registering for the VEP-RFID tag before coming into Malaysia," he said.

  12. I always wait for right arrow at this junction. The part of AMK Ave 2 towards Ave 1 slopes up so vehicles like the taxi get a poor view of approaching traffic.
