Modeldriver Neutral Newbie August 3, 2003 Author Share August 3, 2003 So cheap ??? Where ? So far the cheapest/lightest combination I've see are some 17" ones weighing around 8.5kg each going for just over $300 each. ↡ Advertisement
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie August 3, 2003 Author Share August 3, 2003 Ok... high idle problem fixed. Seems that the micro compressors are adjustable just like Ecotek. Was set too with opening too large - ended up behaving as if trottle permanently partly open. Now things back generally to normal on idle, marginally less eager at the start (figure of course - since now starting from lower base rpm). However, at high speeds... great man... don't even have to floor or shift down in 5th gear to pull comfortably away from 90km/h to 140km/h.
Andrewkb Neutral Newbie August 3, 2003 Share August 3, 2003 Hey, thut U want to get McWell to help custom make an AEM ? How's the project going along ?
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie August 3, 2003 Author Share August 3, 2003 Not yet... still debating it mentally. It's more custom dismantle an AEM - take the DC5-Auto AEM CAI - which just barely fits, and cut one/two joints to fit it in. Except I think they fresh out of stock of DC5-Auto ones - next shipment. GDIzen Neutral Newbie August 3, 2003 Share August 3, 2003 Normally, we don't need kickdown from 5th to 4th gear at expressway speeds...You mean with full load of 7 ppl is it?
Saaber Neutral Newbie August 3, 2003 Share August 3, 2003 Oh ya,...forgot you got lessons going on now....maybe catch up with you for lunch lah....
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie August 3, 2003 Author Share August 3, 2003 From what I understand, it's a 'controlled' leak - attached to the vacuum hoses, so that air can be brought into the combustion chambers - more air (within certain proportions) translates to more power. Several on the market - Ecotek, Super Airmax 2, and this one.
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie August 3, 2003 Author Share August 3, 2003 If you cruising, and wanna accelerate, for 5 speed auto, power distribution usually just not there. For Stream, 5th gear cruising 90-100km/h is around 2000rpm - so if you wanna accelerate, usually there's fair bit of 'reluctance' to climb the rpms - usually would need to step harder for kick-down to 4th gear to push into higher rpm range to improve power. At least that's my experience with my car so far.

Chippz Neutral Newbie August 4, 2003 Share August 4, 2003 Actually, quite sad... because kinda ran out of things to do. Actually was not intending to do this one, since already got Ecotek. Decided to try only after Myskyline told me it worked pretty well on his JDM Accord (actually he put one, and when it worked well enough, he put another). Now got Ecotek to get rid of. maybe you can try selling it off at mycarxchange?
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie August 4, 2003 Author Share August 4, 2003 Anyway, to be nice, I agreed to put on the wire mesh since they had the bumper out. Good to keep out leaves and stuff anyway.
