Hi, has anyone use Bridgestone GR80 tyres? Read good reports from magazine & keen to try them out. Was quoted $100/pc for 195 60 R15.

so far heavy down pour my speed is about 90km on expressway. so far so good but make sure got sufficient space between all cars. this applied to all type of tyres. yesterday i saw a honda stream overturn and hit on to the pavement at bukit batok. the road is slippry and i think that what make the stream laying down on the driver side.

i got the deal at toa payoh lorong 8 industrail park. the shop named is eng wah, look for mr. vincent. nice chap. if your tyres still in good condition, he might trade in for you.

well..it's a piece of tyre that provide good handling wet and dry...you pay for your tyre but not for the Advertising and Promotion like other brands...I personally use the A539...cheap and good..no complaint....except if you don't mind it being noisy...and the guys at YHI is nice...

Hi, I'm thinking of changing my tyres (205/65/15) to something that is quiet, comfortable, and also have sufficiently okay dry and wet grip...etc. Looking at the magazines, seems the 2 choices are : Yokohama AVS DB or Bridgestone GR80. Most of the magazines have writeup on the later, but not much is written on the Yoko one.. So really hard to compare ?? Looking at the tyre patterns, looks similar.

Am I right to compare the 2 tyres, are they of the same category ?

I heard the AVS DB is much improved over the Aspect DB which has wet grip problems.

Also, any ideas in general, is a yoko tyre more lasting or a bridgstone one more lasting ? Michelins (what I'm using now) seems to be more lasting but typically noiser.

Anyone have any further insights ? Also does anyone know where these rubbers are made ?

In Japan or in some Asian countries ?

Thanks in advance.. [;)]

hi,

i'm been using yoko for quite a period of time. from aspec db to es100. es100 is more on performance rather than comfort. how long will it last also depend. i usually changed tyres once a year becos of city and industrail area coverage. so play safe i practice that way. i got friends had used the aspec db since the day 1 him got his car until fews week ago when he sold his babe. the tyres still ok but noisy due to materials hardern.

personally i quite happy about the avs db. that's my personal point of view.

Hi,

I just changed to the GR80s (previous tyres conti ecos which I used for 2 years). Got them at CAS. Think the price then was $95/tyre because they had a 15% discount (actual price $112). Posted the price here before so you can do a search. My tyres are the same size as yours.

Feedback- great tyres compared to the ecos. Noise level is low. In fact, two of my colleagues commented that the car was quieter when they sat in it, without being told that I had changed tyres. Very good grip in dry and wet. In dry, comparable to ecos, in wet, way better.

I was toying with the idea of AVS Db but then, the quoted price I got then was about $110. Besides, I've heard bad things about aspec db in the wet. Even though AVS db supposed to be much better, decided not to take the risk.

p.s. if you're wondering what tyres they were comparing the GR80s against in those reviews, it's the new michelins MXV8s

Hi Toledosun,

Thanks for your feedback.. I reckon it's the MXV8s they're comparing with GR80s in the reviews... Big French tyre company.. must be Micheline loh !.. Somemore, I understand some of the MXV8s are made in Thailand.

Anyway, it's a shame how come no one review it against the AVS DB ? There's not so much reviews on it.. Actually, I was quoted around $80 per pcs for the AVS DB before for 195/60/15. But my current car needs 205/65/15.. but I think around same price..

Not sure how much would the lowest possible price for GR80 be .. ? But I think maybe

about the same ?? Anyway, assuming price around the same.. which is better...?

Why don't Bridgestone also compare with Yoko ??

Does anyone know if the GR80 and AVS DB are made in Japan ?

Thanks..
