Radiant Neutral Newbie November 22, 2003 Share November 22, 2003 Hi All, Newbie here. I am eyeing a 2 year old Daewoo Nubira which is rather affordable. The thing is I could'nt find anything much about this car in the forums that i 've visited. Could anyone who is driving one, please highlight the pros & cons of owning one? Thanks for your inputs. Greatly appreciate it! ↡ Advertisement
Vtim 3rd Gear November 22, 2003 Share November 22, 2003 Hi Radiant, Welcome to MCF, hope you enjoy your stay here. Before going into buying this Daewoo Nubira, may I know what kind of budget you are aiming at in getting your car
Radiant Neutral Newbie November 22, 2003 Author Share November 22, 2003 The lower the depreciation value the better of course. This Daewoo works out to about $4.5K a year. You got any lobang?
Vtim 3rd Gear November 22, 2003 Share November 22, 2003 $4.5k....er don't have lobang ley , have you tried Proton Wira, parts & labour cheap cheap across the border
Radiant Neutral Newbie November 22, 2003 Author Share November 22, 2003 No, I ven't tried the Proton Wira, but no offense to anyone, I don't quite like the looks of Proton - just my personal opinion.
Vtim 3rd Gear November 22, 2003 Share November 22, 2003 well, if you are looking at depreciation alone, than if you can get $4.5k per year for the Nubira is ok but however, maintainence cost will be cheaper for the Proton
Radiant Neutral Newbie November 22, 2003 Author Share November 22, 2003 Thanks for your reply & recommendation VTim Appreciate It!
Vtim 3rd Gear November 22, 2003 Share November 22, 2003 no problem, but ultimately, it still your own decision good luck hunting for your $4.5k depree car
Mydotcom 1st Gear November 22, 2003 Share November 22, 2003 I would recommend Hyundai Accent instead. Dep should be between 4.5K to 4.8K. Local Daewoo agent has stopped bringing in cars under Daewoo's brand. It has been replaced by the Chevorlet (something like dat, dunno how to spell ). Also, Daewoo is quite rare here, may have a little difficulty find parts and workshops for servicing.
Mondeost220 Neutral Newbie November 23, 2003 Share November 23, 2003 if im nt wrong...daewoo or generally korean cars have higher fuel consumption as they use lower technology engines and also the weight of the car is much heavier as not much weight saving materials are used..thus end up no power and lousy fuel consumption..so end of the day...itz better to own a jap car. Aniwae itz all dwn to personal preference..every1 has their way of calculation
Radiant Neutral Newbie November 23, 2003 Author Share November 23, 2003 So, which Jap car would you say has the lowest depreciation value - used & new. Thanks!

Aniwae itz all dwn to personal preference..every1 has their way of calculation Actually it depends on driver too. Heavy footed drivers with jap cars also suffers lousy mileage. My Hyundai Accent 1.3 can get ard 13+km/L Not a bad figure. Jap cars costs more than korean. Is the fuel savings of jap cars enough to 'cover' the extra $ you pay for it? Korean cars dep is ard $4.8K a yr. Jap cars dep at least $5.5K a year. Can the fuel savings of a jap car save you more than $800 a yr? Even the most fuel economy Honda FIT avr fuel consumption is ard 17km/L. Comparing it to a 12km/L korean, it can travel 5km more per Litre of petrol. Assumming you travel 25,000km a yr, then a Honda FIT will requires 36.8 full tank pump and a korean will require 52.1 full tank pump. Assumming 40 litres full tank each, and $1.2 per litre. Honda FIT will cost $1766.40 while korean $2500.80. Difference in savings = $734.44 annually. Korean 1.3 costs ~$59K, Honda FIT costs ~$74K. dep for korean 1.3 = $5.9K while Honda FIT/JAZZ is ~$7.4K. So in terms of Fuel Consumption, although the korean cars drink more, but it makes up for it by costing less. To each his own, although i agree that jap cars are better built than korean generally. Better materials But then we get what we pay Can't expect to pay peanuts and get lion right? In terms of pure $$$, korean makes more sense, cos its cheaper. But factor in other stuffs like built quality, QC, accessories (power windows, mirrors etc), reliability, resale and Auto-Trans then korean isn't that attractive liao ↡ Advertisement
