the cassette adaptor i use is Sony ... so far quality is good. there are other options :

these are FM transmitters that require you to tune your radio to the Ipod so to speak. I have read some reviews from the net - they fall prey to interference.

 

Wired is still the best way to go if you want quality. belkin has a cassette adaptor if you wanna explore. if you are using the G3 ipod, you can also get the autokit which is a cigarette lighter charger with a line out amplifier (to plug into the cassette adaptor). the line out quality is much better than headphone output.

 

as for mounting, i managed to get an unusual handphone holder which clips onto the aircon vent. it is just wide enuff to accomodate the G3 ipod.

I own a 3G. Looks like the autokit + cassette adapter + your unusual handphone holder (where to get?) would be a winning combination. Is the Belkin autokit sold in Singapore? Do you seal the cables or let them dangle? Line out has a cleaner output IMO, and there's no volume to adjust on the iPod. But if can directly go to line in of amp even better

 

I'm beginning to hate ICE (especially the OEM ones), the only way to play seems to be the CD changer adapter, or ICE-Link http://icelink.densionusa.com/ that costs like US$149. And what's worse is that every manufaturer has got a different interface to the cd changer, and I thought proprietary stuff like these are pretty much passe, and people are going for standards. Not in ICE world I guess.

All the equipment (Autokit+Cassette) you need is available at the MacShop, Wheelock Place, they even have a cupholder insert for the Ipod.

 

I leave the wires dangling cost my cigarette lighter powersocket is not switched. so i have to remove the autokit from the socket when i leave the car. Also I presume, you're not going to be tempting thieves by leaving the Ipod visible?
