Rubber lining on door

I solve my the wooo wooo whisling sound on my old old corolla - its due to a shrink rubber seal on the door mirror. Added silicon and reinstall the door mirror. The sound is gone permanently.

 

Perhaps you wan to check yours ?

Did you get your woo woo sound fixed...one way is to drive slowly...but.....

 

Anyway, I got the problem by the dealer...think they opened up the inside door panels and re-align/tighten the sub-frame....that was one time when I was driving a civic.

 

But on another car, Accord...I had the same problem...cause I cont to smoke and open/close door 10 times a day...they told me I had to change to entire door frame...

and I told them to forget it. Just turn up my ICE a bit louder....solved the problem...

One thing you can do is actually tuen up your a/c full blast, turn up your ICE and hear, feel for cold air and bass vibrations from along the edges. Once detected, open up door and study how well the door is closing on that partcular part. Try things like squeezing on the particular area abit or putting some thick double sided tape over to see if it reduces the vol, cold air. If yes, maybe the double sided tape without peeling the door side off can work fine or you can trim down a aerofoam pc?

Problems like this you need patience to slowly fix them. It's just like trying to detect a faint creaking sound from somewhere. It might take months up to yrs! Give my method a try by using a/c and ICE then try sealing with tape or foam b4 you try more expensive means.

Try this before you yank your rubber out.

 

Using a paint brush....apply amourall or similar products to the rubber...coat it till its wet (but not dripping). Then leave your doors open while the liquid dries on the rubber. After that, use a small piece of tissue or sponge to soak up the left over amourall and try if the wind noise is still an issue or not.

 

This may work if the rubber is not oxidies yet....the amourall will help make the rubber more supple and thus sealing better.

Same old trick.. but AutoGym Bumper Polish is better... it last longer.

Alternative use Dupont Telfon spray... which I am using now.

Word of caution, the silicon thingie is very smelly! Might have to live with it for a few days before the smell goes away.

 

Quickest method is to pull the rubber lining and then use silicon and apply to the metal and stick it back.

 

Else, can source this rubber frmo Cuff road.
