hm okie i think i rem... the mech did a retune by idling the car for 30 mins, off the engine and idle for another 30 mins... cant rem how many times they did and it did help for the first few days... but then the situation came back again...

then i realise if i use shell 98, it slightly improves the situation...

y shouldnt let the car idle too long?

every morning i will warmup my car until the rpm is less than 1k then i start to drive off and everytime, somehow the car couldnt get going and the rpm will drop to bout 200 and rise again to bout 1.5k... even if i step harder on the accel, the car just refuse to move. then i will just wait for bout 5 secs and drive off wif a light foot. only then it wlil response and move off. i did ask the mech from agent but they couldnt do much since it only happen in the morning

You car manual? How old?

Firstly, sounds like clutch slip than engine problem, perhaps the clutch friction material worn or too hard.

Ok, when the car starts cold it's in open loop, that is the fuel is enriched as the catalytic converter is not warmed up and emissions control is not efficient. Idling in open loop is like running with no load which causes a lot of carbonization and waste fuel.

If you keep up with maintenance, i.e. oil change, plugs, emission parts, etc. driving off immediately raises the coolant and engine temps faster and brings the ECU to close loop conditions faster so the car will be more efficient.

Don't worry about initial startup engine wear rumors, yes it does exist but only for a couple of seconds when you engine fires up...thereafter the oil is flowing through the engine already, so idling and driving off immediately doesn't make much diff to the oil.

Heck, I change my car's oil (mineral) every 3000 miles, drive off after putting on my seatbelt in -16C weather, so I don't think weather in Sillypore can be worse than that [:p]

Don't worry so much, I've seen cars here in the US reach 200k+ miles (x1.67 for kms) and they start cold gunning the engine and idle for long periods of time....still can make it [laugh]

Thanks Brick [thumbsup][thumbsup] for your explanation [thumbsup]

My car is an Auto one with CVT transmission.

hm, is it that I do not have to warm up my car in the morning in future? [confused]

So your car should be pretty young still, just startup wait a couple of seconds (i.e. put on seat belt, turn on radio, aircon) then drive on with a light foot for at least till 1/4 mark on temp gauge [nod][;)]

Only redline (if you have to) after the engine reaches normal op temps [;)]
