2002 Focus Overview

Hi,

 

Anyone here installed the armrest for Ford Focus?

 

I am about to install one after I collect my car from Regent , any comments on the quality? or is it better to do without it since it is after market prod.

BTW it's free.

I installed the armrest, and its not worth it cos it sticks out like a sore thumb

I guess it's quite a bit of a nuisance if you're driving a manual - the armrest just gets in the way (mine's always in its stowed position and occasionally gets treated as extra storage space). As for an auto, however, I think it's pretty handy, actually, as it allows your idle left hand to sit somewhere.

 

Not that I have a Focus in the first place - just my $0.02's worth of the day.

I had it fitted and manually removed it myself after a few hours!! Couldnt take the look and especially the obstruction

Well, mine's pretty handy as a storage bin and it is pretty comfortable, although I don't get ot use it.

but its kinda requires amazing dexterity when you wanna pull up the handbrake with the armrest down

True, true - that's probably why they allow us to fold it up.....

So the arm rest is not foldable aih.. now I don't know whether to fix it or not

Personally, I agree whoheartedly with Fluffy and Mag (wise men, they are, I'd say..... )- summed up, the armrest is quite useless unless you've got an amazing level of dexterity or don't use your handbrake.

 

Or both.

 

Even more so when you can't fold it out of the way.

Like you said, unless you have an auto car, its pointless in predominantly city traffic where you have to keep shifting.

I actually think the arm-rest is quite useful, especially for long trips. BTW, mine's foldable. Initially it does get into the way of the handbrake but I've already got used to it. Anyway, for manual car, it may block the gear-change motion.

Precisely, Mike - the operative terms here being "foldable" and "block".

 

Like I'd mentioned earlier - mine's great as extra storage space.....

Yours is attached to the seat right?? I believe Rene's is on the centre console, which doubles up as a storage box.

Yup, mine's on the seat, swivels up and down.
