Very nice, Mike. Trouble with the Zetec is it's not very charismatic in the low range, but as the needle moves up there's a sense of urgency building, with a lovely rasp above 4.5kall the way to 6.8k. Max effect in 2nd gear [thumbsup]

Agreed [sunny] But to me, it felt the best from 3k to 4k in third gear [gossip]

[reply]Yup, mine's on the seat, swivels up and down.

Hi Mike,

Sorry to ask again which dealer did you buy your car from? because i went to Specialist Auto (recommended by Regent) and they only have the conso type. will it be too troublesome to ask who they used for installing the armrest [:)] ?

Sorry bro but my ride's the Alfa Romeo 156! [sly] Abt the centre armrest, you'd better check whether it's a factory option or locally fitted. If it's locally fitted, then you can check with those who had it fitted to see the workmanship and whether you can get used to it. Some ppl feel that it blocks the handbrake operation.

ECU upgrade is prob not legal, but neither is it easy to detect. At most, it's prob a $70 fine though the authorities are prob not even going to bother discovering it...

But key thing is whether there is a tuner in Singapore that can do the tuning - can't just slap on the chip cos each car behaves differently.

Once you tune the thing though, any physical mod (even K&N filter) and you'll have to re-tune it again to make it optimal.. so should be the last thing you do to your car.

errr... if you tour around the workshops, you'd see lots of HUGE exhaust systems, fake cat replacements, superchargers, turbochargers etc etc... they are all "illegal" but are sold here. There is this provision for cars to be retrofitted for motorsports events, just drive them on track but not on road. So these items are not outright illegal, but are illegal if fitted on a road car, so customs will not prevent these things from shipping in. You get the drift? I think the logic is something like that...

Whereas porn and drugs are outright disallowed here...

From the torque curve, I'll have to agree with you that the best pulling power is from 3000 to 4000rpm.

Here's what I have to say about chips. The one you saw is actually tuned specifically for the Focus which Superchip has and may not translate to similar improvement in your car. There's no way of knowing what's the spec of the pre-Superchip Focus. Is the exhaust and intake syatem similar to those Focus available locally? I believe a chip should be the last on the list of upgrades you intend to do. That is, the intake and exhaust should be modified first before the chip. The chip should be tunable to maximise the performance gain from the various mods that's installed.

That's why, I prefer a tunable chip like Dastek's Unichip or the more sophisticated Autronics and tune the car under dyno.

I've a dyno chart of my babe but sadly I've no scanner so I can't post it here. [:(]
