Toyo 1st Gear July 11, 2004 Share July 11, 2004 Never heard of this tire until last night. Any comments? ↡ Advertisement
Laser Neutral Newbie July 11, 2004 Share July 11, 2004 It is a in-house brand from Stamford, belongs to the comfort and quiet cat. Tread pattern looks abit like the Yokohama A500. Been using it for about 20000km still looking good. Laser
Toyo 1st Gear July 11, 2004 Author Share July 11, 2004 Thanks. saw it on stamford website but did'nt know it's an in-house brand. From what i saw from other tire shop, it is made in Japan.
Laser Neutral Newbie July 11, 2004 Share July 11, 2004 Don't ever buy from Stamford they are far too expensive. I think outside should be selling less than $100 for a 195/55R15. Laser
Toyo 1st Gear July 11, 2004 Author Share July 11, 2004 You are right. Rims and tires at stamford are too expensive. Was quoted 900+ with SSW rims. Outside w/ other taiwan rims at least cheaper by 100+ bucks.
Jagash Neutral Newbie July 11, 2004 Share July 11, 2004 Wait for their offer to buy. Normally 4 times a year, they offer buy 3 get 1 free.
Leonknapp Clutched July 11, 2004 Share July 11, 2004 Never heard of this tire until last night. Any comments? Its a comfort tyre comparable to the AspecDB and Falken Ziex512. Its good value for money but my only gripe is that it does not contain any silica content so rolling resistance is higher than most comfort tyres. Toyo 1st Gear July 11, 2004 Author Share July 11, 2004 Actually they already gave me some discount. Based on their list price, it's about 1.2K discount 200+ so it's like having a pc of rim free.

I also think it's good value for money. Does higher rolling resistance result in better grip and higher FC?
Leonknapp Clutched July 12, 2004 Share July 12, 2004 Hi Toyo, No silica helps to improve wet grip and reduce rolling resistance. But if u are talking about dry grip I think maybe might be better but its a big maybe! If u want that tyre may as well go for aspecdb or gr80
Jagash Neutral Newbie July 13, 2004 Share July 13, 2004 That works out to 16.7% discount. Why not wait for 25% discount if not in a hurry?
Flaser Neutral Newbie July 18, 2004 Share July 18, 2004 Have been using the Firenza for over 40,000km, still got lots of thread left and going strong. But starting to be quite noisy. Was rather quiet the 1st 25,000 - 30,000km. It's classified as High Performance tyres, and IMO better than AspecDB, cos heard too many horror stories abt the AspecDB in wet conditions. Had no problems with grip, though I probably wouldn't know either cos I seldom push my car anywhere near the limits. Overall very satisfied with these tyres. Since it's quite cheap, would recommend giving them a try.
Toyo 1st Gear July 19, 2004 Author Share July 19, 2004 Yes, i'm using it now. So far very satisfied with it
Flaser Neutral Newbie July 21, 2004 Share July 21, 2004 Glad that you like it! Hope that more people would try and put their comments down here. I remember a previous thread quite some months back where there were quite a few of positive comments too on this ST-03. Btw, mind sharing with us how much you paid for your tyres? Mine was a package deal with rims, so not sure how much the tyres themselves actually costs.
Toyo 1st Gear July 22, 2004 Author Share July 22, 2004 Not sure also. mine is also package. But from bro Jtan38 reply, looks value for money.
Marvelicious 3rd Gear August 17, 2007 Share August 17, 2007 One big question guys. Does the sidewalls expand to protect the rims from curb rashes? That is a major factor for me to consider... Thanks.
Toyo 1st Gear August 17, 2007 Author Share August 17, 2007 Oh... such an old thread. anyway i'm not using ST-03 now. if the side wall protrude out it does help to prevent the rim from scratches
Marvelicious 3rd Gear August 17, 2007 Share August 17, 2007 Thanks for the reply. Can you recommend tyres that can protect rims? And is good in both wet and dry? Budget about $200 each. Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
