Dcool Neutral Newbie July 27, 2004 Share July 27, 2004 Yeah, i know abt it, it cost abt 3k plus almost 4 k excluding installation and tuning. Have to also change exhaust and suspension and also improve on brakes if i fix that up, so may not be in the works immediately.. But for now.. i like to take it nice and slow... Omegaz22xe Neutral Newbie July 27, 2004 Share July 27, 2004 Hi i m new in this forum. Soli for being kay poh. I think LTA will approve only if add-on kit is already installed when registering. cheers
Dcool Neutral Newbie July 27, 2004 Share July 27, 2004 Not true, as long as you can show technically (paper proof) that the supercharger is designed for the car engine and the manufacturer (toyota in this case) approves the add on, you can LEGALLY install a super charger or turbo charger to any car. In fact there are a few cars running around in singapore with bolt on super chargers and are legal with papers from LTA. But bc its too le cheh to correspond with LTA(also spell as stupid ) and with the Jap side, plus not enough technically incline technicians to do such "interesting" jobs. But once you have done it, you have a unique car that is a wolf under sheep's clothing
Wankie Clutched July 27, 2004 Share July 27, 2004 Well.. if it makes your day any better, i got the orange. Bc i think its really different from the usual car colour. I was worry abt it looking like the same shade as the vios orange that i checked and double confirmed the colour code before signing the papers for the car. Orange is a happy colour and thats how i wan everyone to feel when they see my car. Orange's a cool color and not very common among SG cars. Good choice! Wankie Clutched July 27, 2004 Share July 27, 2004 just curious, what car you bought?... Ended up with a honda jazz 'cos dunno why somehow didn't feel comfortable buying from PI. Was considering nissan cube and toyota IST. Signed the papers a little early actually 'cos a week later Champion launched the Ignis Sport
Omegaz22xe Neutral Newbie July 27, 2004 Share July 27, 2004 This is good news man. More power for same road tax. $4K/ 10yrs = $400 /yr. My heart also move move. Go for it.
Dcool Neutral Newbie July 27, 2004 Share July 27, 2004 Oh yeah..paying the same road tax for more power is a good thing but in lfe nothing is that good. High power translate to higher wear rate and also if you dun know your engineering stuff well enough probably you will end up having to import a new engine. But its really fun to drive super charged engine be it generates less heat and requires less attention then a turbo charger. But mechanical wear might be slightly higher eventhought its neligable. However tunning and remapping the engine ECU will be a more difficult task bc your engine have to "relearn" the new changes all over again. But i believe it will be really fun to see the faces of other drivers when a car like this burn rubber at green light. But then again remembering the time i have to stand in front of the judge to lose my licence always makes me drive more cautiously.. once bitten .. three times shy

Super7 Turbocharged July 27, 2004 Author Share July 27, 2004 yeah, this is still cheaper than buying a 1500cc bB for more power... of course, this car doesnt need the extra power to stay unique
Omegaz22xe Neutral Newbie July 30, 2004 Share July 30, 2004 I suppose u committed the offence when u are very young. We all grow up over time n learn from our mistake. I don't speed in Singapore. But going up north, it's a different story. This is all about risk management. Happy driving.
Potheader Clutched July 31, 2004 Share July 31, 2004 Wow!! What a bread box!! With such un-aerodynamic design, wun there be more wind resistance, and thus higher FC? That is Toyota thinking? I think their mascot should be a hippo!
