Xantia 2.0 has got a manual? but service every 5000km is as good as once every 2 mths. I just want to know a rough figure, is it below $500 or more than that to service the suspension?

Mine was one of the rare few that was Manual. Lots of Xsara are manual too!

Anyway, I cant recall the figures as it has been a good 4 years ago. It shouldnt cost more than S$250 bucks for the suspension.

Cheers.

As to whether u wanna service every 5K or not, its up u.

I always like this car since i am a teenager. I still in love with this car till now. I once saw one XM in a scrap yard and i really pity the car. I hope to get a 97 or 98, just hope to drive it for at least 1 to 2 years before scrap. I have to say the styling is so unique and people who like Citroen cars (not newer Citroen) are individualist and got character.

U referring to me?? [laugh][laugh] I'm one of those few in SG driving a Citroen, a Xsara that is.

Like achtung mentioned, pneumatic/hydralic suspension is wat make Citroen cars exoensive to maintain. Every yr must change spheres etc....

I frequent Thomas at AMK and he is truly a "know-all" where Citroen is concerned. Pay him a visit and u'll still a XM or BX hanging around there, tho' mostly own by French diplomats.

Hi, i only like a few Citroen models XM, SM, BX, CX. 2CV if for collect ok.

Think the worst Citroen should be AX.

I am sorry to say Xsara is not so Citroen but don't think Xsara got HVS right?

Maybe next time u go to Thomas, can ask for me if anyone wanna sell a 97-98 XM 2.0? How much do u think will cost based on today for a 97 XM?

The reason why I chose Xsara is exactly b'cos it doesnt hv HVS. So maintanence is lower.

Just went there yesterday....will ask for u. [sly]

Julian,

No I have not. I had 2 BXs in the 90s and now on my 2nd Xantia. Looking for a good XM might be quite a difficult task. You may wanna call Thomas 6483 4044 and ask him to keep a lookout for you.

Cheers!

oh... i love the BX too when i was a kid.... Seems like everyone who drive Citroen refer me to Thomas. For your Xantia, the HVS is it by a press of button? I saw some Citroen when parked, looked like being pressed down from the roof like a toy car.

ah i like the hydraulic suspension.. go low on highway and go high offroad [nosebleed][nosebleed][thumbsup]

my uncle used to own one CX, it's so spacious inside and the suspension height adjustment always comes so handy in different road condition [thumbsup]

Hi Julian,

Thomas runs a workshop that specialises in Citroens. Apparently only he has the equipment to re-pressurise the spheres when they are worn, which even the agent can't do.

The C5's Hydrative3 suspension is controlled by push buttons, whilst the ones on the older Citroens like my Xantia is controlled by a lever between the front seats. The cars that you see, which sit squat when parked are because they are not fitted with an anti-sink valve. It is not activated manually or by choice. Post 98 cars (?!? - can someone verify) are fitted with anti-sink valves and they stop the hydraulic system from losing all the pressure when the car is parked and the engine is not running.

I am thinking of getting Citroen C4 1.4(A) or 1.6 Sensodrive but for the amount of money, i can get a Chevrolet Optra (my dad own one already but i really like the car) or maybe Ford Focus. I also think it is a good time to buy 2nd hand cars so i am thinking of the XM. May i know which is the first Citroen that is first seen on our road? 2CV, DS19 or CX?

C4?!? Or do u mean C3? Well I cant really advise u on ur choice of wheels, but unless u hv deep pockets for repair bills, forget abt getting an old XM, great car tho it may be. You wont wanna know how much I hv burnt maintaining my Xantia V6 [sweatdrop]

The oldest Citroen I have seen in Sg is the Traction Avant, a large saloon with outboard fenders and external indicators (on the B-pillar) from the 1950s.

Whether or not the C4 will arrive in SG is a big question mark!!! C2 may not even reach our shore, not to mention C4.

I'll be the first to go Advance Auto if they announce the arrival of C4. [laugh]
