The range is not bad on open air environment. I am staying on the 10 storey and i park in open air carpark but not directly downstairs. And i can receive the signal with no problem. I have tried checking status inside lift and it can still rec. At my gf house, which has mulitstorey cp and there is a blk of flat blocking her apartment from the MSCP, i cant rec the signal from her place but once i reach the voiddeck downstairs i can rec.

As for sensitivity, there are 2 senors, the interior and the body sensor. I found the body sensor a tend too sensitive, when i give a medium tap on the front fender, it will sound off and also that during my reservist, when fighter planes fly by , it will go off. So i set the level to level 3 and after that it was ok, no moew sounding when planes fly by and when i tap it does sound off. The alarm has 8 level of sensitivity.

what do you mean by the interior and body sensor?

The body sensor you have explained how it is activated, but what about the interior sensor? how does it get activated??

Is it easy to assess the sensitivity level controls?

The interior sensor is built in the main controller module box. The external sensor is actually a extra sensor connected to the module box, however this sensor is attached to th body or chassis. So when i tap on the body panel near the area the vibration will activate the sensor to sound off the alarm. My personal experience with the alarm tells me that the external sensor is sensitive to knocks and vibrations or loud noises. While the internal sensor is good for movements or shakes of your car.

Sensitiy levels are easily accessible via the remote control. No need to access the control module. I currently customize the setting to auto arming and locking 15 sec after the engine is off and the last door is closed. So after i off the engine and leave the car, and close the door, the car will auto matically arm and lock the car if you forget to arm it sometimes. There are pros and cons to this setting but i prefer it this way. Hope this answers your query. [:)]

Seems like for the small budget and reasonable features ( ie. excluded the viper and crimestopper type products with high price tag ) not really much choices and all seems to be more or less similar.

Finally got the STW 800 installed, seller and installer were nice. On paper the STW seems to have more features than Pageguard, but in real-life comparison I guess we wont know unless we do side by side testing. 10th floor open CP no prob, need to test with basement CP but no high hopes.

Had initial problems with the sensitivity, truck passed by and my alarm sounded

With the LED version was not quite sure how to adjust sensitivity and switch off sensor. Need to play around more.

Do i need to switch off both internal and external sensors ?

PS : Once my friend locked himself out of car with auto-arm when he left key in car and ran out to ATM.

To set the sensitivity level first unlock(or disarm via remote) the car

1. Press and hold the right smaller button until you hear a beep on the remote

2. Press and release the same button again and the car siren should chirp

3. Press the top button (arm button) for more sensitive or bottom button (disarm button) for less sensitive to choose the level of sensitivity. It will recycle the levels once you have chosen thru all 8 levels.

4. One chirp sound is the most sensitive. And one siren with 3 chirps is the least sensitive.

Hope this info helps.

I have tried also all the levels and i think the most suitable sensitivity is level 2 or 3.

There is no need to switch anything off when setting the level, everything can be done on the remote.

I agree abt the possibility of accidentally locking yourself out after you switch off the car, thats why i make it a habit to pull my key out after i off the engine, plus there is a beeping sound from the car that will keep sounding when the key in inside. It happen to me many years ago with my old car, so once bitten twice shy, i am careful. I just worry that my gf is not that careful. [;)]

I'll try it again in some remote place, otherwise irritate people with my testing.

I can get into the first 2 steps,

1. Press and hold the right smaller button until you hear a beep on the remote

2. Press and release the same button again and the car siren should chirp

However when I press the increase or decrease ( arm / disarm ) button, I dont really know when it has recycled itself, I only hear one beep or 2 beeps if I go up or down. So I dont know if I have overshot the lowest sensitivity and gone back to highest. I thought just by decreasing sensitivity about 8-10 times, I should have hit rock bottom and it wont go to the top again.

When you say " 4. One chirp sound is the most sensitive. And one siren with 3 chirps is the least sensitive. ", is it the remote or the alarm chirp ? What is diff between siren and chirp, how does least sensitive sound ? Does it go BEEP Chirp Chirp Chirp ?

When you go from most to least sensitive, does the chipring get progressively more ?

Maybe the alarm should not be on silent mode when I do it.

Sorry to ask so much but my alarm just went off again just now, had to run to see the car, nothing ..

No problem.

After you have completed step 1 and 2. you should be pressing the 2 bigger buttons to select the different level. My advise : Just use one of the buttons to select the level so that you will not confuse yourself. The level is differentiated by the siren from the car not the remote beeper. And yes, you must not set the alarm to silent when doing this. I had the same problem like the alarm accidently going off when the car next to me parks too near to my car when i first got the alarm but after studying, i think is all abt the setting to the correct level. As i previously suggested : level 2 or 3 will be best.

Highest Level 1 (most sensitive ) 1 chirp

level 2: 2 chirp

level 3 : 3 chirp

level 4 : 4 chirp

level 5 : 1 whistle-like tone(high and low)

level 6 : 1 whistle with 1 chirp

level 7 : 1 whistle with 2 chirp

Lowest Level 8 (least sensitive) 1 whistle with 3 chirp

After you have selected the level you wan, do step 1 and 2 again to close and complete the whole process. After that your car alarm is ready to use again.

Let me know if you need more help. There was a guy who used to work there and knows the alarm very well but unfortunately he recently left the company. So i doubt the new guy will know as much.

wow thanks, your chart will really help !

Singtech should update your list in the manual...

Have you tried totally shutting the shock sensor totally ? If worse comes to worse, I'll resort to that. Ive tried following instructions ie. pressing the arm ( or disarm ? )button twice but failed again.

Thanks, just helping out wherever i can.

You can bypass the interior and external shock sensor if you still have problems.

Are you having the problem that after doing step 1 and 2 and when you press the arm or disarm button to select the level, the door only locks and unlocks ? If so, have you disarmed(or unlocked) the alarm before doing step 1 and 2 ? Try again. If you follow my steps, you shoule be able to select the levels.

Just let me know if you have problems. Dun worry abt troubling me. [;)]

Dcool,

Ok, i wont be shy then !

I'll try adjust the sensitivity setting using step 1 and 2 later with your chart.

My latest question was about bypassing the shock sensor totally, not adjusting it.

The manual says press DISARM twice to disable 1st stage sensor, then press DISARM again twice to disable 2nd stage sensor. When they say press twice, do they mean like a double click, ie. in quick succession ? For second stage, do I double click again immediately ? If I double click it again, its supposed to enable the sensors again.

The same goes for the internal sensor, except that we use the ARM button to double click.

I assume I have to do it for both external and internal to disable shock sensor totally.

Hope I am reading it correctly, have you tried disabling the sensors ?

I actually have one more question, how do I stop the remote from beeping when the alarm is activiated ? we dont have vibrator mode right ? Do I have to run to the car each time and press DISARM or will it stop by itself ?

There are 2 stages in each sensors, stage 1 and stage 2

Before you start to disable the sensors, ensure that your alarm is in ARMED mode.

Internal sensor

1)To disable internal sensor, press the ARM button twice, do this "press-press" . Like mouse double click but at a slightly slower speed

2)Do this once the stage 1 is disabled,

3)Do it again "press-press", stage 1 and stage 2 is disabled ( sensors not active )

4)Do it again "press-press" all the sensors will be active again. (Original factory mode).

External sensor

1)To disable external sensor, press the SILENT button twice (not DISARM as stated in above), do this "press-press" .

2)Do this once the stage 1 is disabled,

3)Do it again "press-press", stage 1 and stage 2 is disabled ( sensors not active )

4)Do it again "press-press" all the sensors will be active again. (Original factory mode).

As for the remote, i dun think there is a way is silent it. Or maybe i havent tried it, but i think i have tried almost all the fuctions in the alarm system. The alarm will go off by itself for 15 secs if it's stage 1 activate, and it will go off for 25 secs(ard there) if its stage 1 and stage 2 activated, if you dun press the disarm button once to stop the alarm. After the alarm goes off, it will go back into ARM mode again.
