C708 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2004 Share November 4, 2004 (edited) E, Your next servicing should be @ 75k...so better do your timing belt change then along with the service......timing belt change is messy.... Lightspeed Clutched November 4, 2004 Share November 4, 2004 75k? not 70k? Thought of doing at 10k intervals
C708 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2004 Share November 4, 2004 E, Servo sets all their intervals @ 15k. VAG cars are designed for 15k servicing intervals.......I've done all my servicing for both my VAG cars ( past & present ) @ 15k always......... 75k would be a good time to do it.... Gendut 2nd Gear November 5, 2004 Share November 5, 2004 My old Classic went on to 120K without change and still nothing happened. Finally had it changed and observed that the belt and teeth were still in good condition. This is over and above the hard driving that I subject the car to. I guess Skoda makes good cars. Octaviafan Neutral Newbie November 5, 2004 Author Share November 5, 2004 Good to know Skoda makes reliable cars. For me, I won't chance it, so better to change at recommended mileage.
Zen Neutral Newbie November 13, 2004 Share November 13, 2004 90k change timing belt should be okay. I did mine at this mileage, and it's not that messy lah.
Whoa Neutral Newbie February 1, 2005 Share February 1, 2005 Let me relate a bad experience recently at Servotronics. I sent my car there to repair a faulty window plus regular servicing. They changed new engine oil and change air filter. A few days later I happen to open the engine cover and I notice the air intake pipe (which is connected to the air filter) had a broken hose. It was loose! I reckoned bad luck it could be due to wear and tear but it could also due to his worker negligence when changing the air filter. (when it is twisted in a certain way the hose will tear). But I didn't complain anything just told him to repair and change and paid $180 and left. Now I notice I am able to smell car fumes from outside---as if there is no air filter. I am not going back again.
XLR8 1st Gear February 1, 2005 Share February 1, 2005 I think you should have voiced out to Dennis the boss. Not complain but at least let him know. No workshop has perfect workers. Sure bound to have screw ups here and there. You could have alerted him so at least he knows whether his workers slack anot. Btw, what car fumes are you talking about? Petrol or? Mel4fun Neutral Newbie February 1, 2005 Share February 1, 2005 What has the air filter got to do with the smell inside your aircon ???? Unless you are refering to the aircon filter ?
Skodarr Neutral Newbie February 1, 2005 Share February 1, 2005 (edited) Yes Relak, you are right. Dennis and Philip will ready open up options and complaints from any customer. At this point, I wonder Whoa would give them another chance to service his ride... Edited February 1, 2005 by Skodarr

Lightspeed Clutched February 1, 2005 Share February 1, 2005 Isn't that the pollen filter? If his intake filter can smell in cabin... WHOA!!!!
Whoa Neutral Newbie February 2, 2005 Share February 2, 2005 It is fumes from outside the car. Like when a lorry passes, I can smell all his smoke inside my car! And my air con vents are directed to my face, so the smell is concentrated. I did tell Dennis about the broken hose, he said probably it just broke due to waer and tear. Lightspeed Clutched February 2, 2005 Share February 2, 2005 Should be the pollen filter ... I got that before... just have it replaced and the problem will be solved

I am not going back again. hiya whoa, for the air intake hose, the one connecting the airbox to the throttle body, it does crack, due to the plastics and out weather. I learnt from another owner that his cracked twice, mine was found to have crack 2 weeks ago. So don't think it has anything to do with the worker at Servo lah as for your smelling of fumes, my tody has the same problem, could be the recirculating flap motor spoil (mine was checked that it was still functioning --phew!) or the foam seal, that keeps the outside air out, i haven't gone back to check this one out yet. but definately don't think it has anything to do with the pollen filter, that just filters in outside air. Jhoo Neutral Newbie February 2, 2005 Share February 2, 2005 I always have to set my AC to circulate mode every time I start my car. Anyway to make this selection "permanant", I'm afraid of losing the motor if it operates too often! Doesn't the outside air passes thru "recirculate"flag and the pollen filter? ↡ Advertisement
