For my case, Yep, I'm havin a auto tranny. Was worried that my 3 yrs old tody will end up like my cordy, so told Dennis to change(not flush), but end up flushed unsure.gif. As i read that it is no good to flushed the auto tranny if the ATF is not changed regularly.

Now I'm experience delay engaging of gear only during cold start. Felt like the mounting is loose but I didn't face this problem before the change of ATF. The intention for changing ATF was to make sure my gearbox can last as long as my passion for this ride!

I am paranoid about this ATF/Gearbox thing, & for this reason I scrap my cordy losing $1x,xxx!

Many told me that VAG cars are like that, and told me that I'm HYPER sensitive! But I didn't felt anything on my bro's Audi(A4), he had his ATF changed every 15K. Its an Audi after all.

Anything to share on the flushing of the Gearbox / use of ATF?

There is a flap underneath the pollen filter, is that it?

===========================================================

Its that flap that swings to either take in fresh air from outside or, when it swings the other way recirculates the cabin air. [cool]

I tried the resetting method in the forum, a couple of steps including by turning key and stepping on accelerator pedal. Is it the same?

Correct me if I am wrong, this procedure only reset your throttle... not the gearbox... However, most of the restting have to be done by the VAG Tool...

Resetting the Gearbox ECU will delete all profiles saves in the EPROM. Therefore, a brand new settings and readings will be saved instead. Furthermore, if there's a error code on the ECU log, it will have to be erase away.

Did my 45k servicing yesterday...

Dennis change my front pads...anyone know whether are they using stock pads or mintex pads? After the change felt the brake a bit softer

Also the ECU was reset...but how come the odometer still show the previous mileage? Wont the odo be reset when the ECU was?

Thanks.

V,

Mintex are after market pads, Dennis will not change to them unless u specified for it. It's probably Textar pads.....

Using the VAG tool, it will reset the Service in the ECU Counter which will send a signal to the Speedo without resetting the ODO.... However, without VAG tool, the Speedo will perform the resetting by using the ODO function method...

=============

J, I've changed my ATF about 3 times since I got my new ride. First change was at 10K Km, then at about 30K, 60K. I am now at 70K. Best bet would be to get the VAG ATF from Xin Zhong. I noticed a difference in smoothness of the trans. between dextron 3 (BM used at my 10K change)and the VAT ATF (fr Xin Zhong). IMO avoid dextron 3 and go for recommended VAG ATF. You would need about 3L.

Thanks for the info.

I noticed in the Autodata that there are ATF and Differential Gear Oil. What is the difference? How often do we need to change the differential gear oil? And also is the servicing of the valvebody necessary after certain interval?

Differential Gear Oil only apply to Cars fitted with LSD (Limited Slip Differential) like Audi TT Quattro and A4 Quattro, etc...

Use the VAG ATF will be more visible...

Hi All,

Bring up the thread again...

I am thinking when we go to Servo for any repairs, servicing etc...there is no proper records of what we have done previously.

Just to suggest, they should have some simple database to keep track of indivdual cars sent in for service....

I agree. Should keep the receipt - work done vs cost as a form of record, also the there is no record of the engine diagnostic done as well.
