Cashiertan Neutral Newbie November 9, 2004 Share November 9, 2004 (edited) u may want to wait a while more as the coe may still go down for nov bidding. anyway, who wants to buy getz now when the nissan sunny manual is going for 56k only Pluz freebies and 2 years of servicing. Hyundai servicing is ex http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...y;so=ASC;mh=25; Edited November 9, 2004 by Cashiertan
Jamesgetz 4th Gear November 10, 2004 Share November 10, 2004 i service my ride at a Komoco-authorised workshop. labour cost is $25 for oil filter, engine oil and plugs change. i bring my own oil and filter. how much cheaper is Tan Chong? anyway, comparing sunny with a getz is like comparing apples with oranges. one is a sporty hatchback and the other is a family saloon. Aikshin Neutral Newbie November 11, 2004 Share November 11, 2004 the hyundai getz 1.3, 3-dr (manual) is going only for 51,888 (guaranteed coe) however you can go for bidding price at 49,888 ... with the following freebies a. MP3 player b. leather seats c. 15" sports rims d. fog lights e. spoiler f. reverse sensors g. sun visors h. solar film and its only 1.3 vs the sunny 1.6 and you have a cash difference of 59k - 50k = 6k of difference for servicing 1st 3 servicings are free labour but each visit avg costs = $45 and can be much cheaper if you get the engine oil and oil filter outside ... and subsequent servicing is for every 10,000 km ... assume hyundai servicing is "expensive" at $300 per session where the $6k diff can qualify you for 20 sessions and assume you need to service your getz 2 times a year ( assume travel 20,000km) per year which is more than enough to pay for the sessions for the next 10 years bear in mind this "expensive" is probably when you service in komoco, nowadays so many authorised workshops servicing hyundai cars, look around, they are are much cheaper who knows for sunny after the 2 years free servicing, TC will make the subsequent sessiosn very expensive too to recoup back the losses cheers

Cashiertan Neutral Newbie November 11, 2004 Share November 11, 2004 (edited) Reading your post, i can see that you are an avid getz fan and most likely you would find 1001 reason to buy getz rather than other car. Btw, you pay peanut you get monkeys thus buy paying 57k for a 1.6l sunny manual, i am paying 7 k more for a 1.6l saloon made in jap car. whereas, i pay 7k less, 1 get an 1.3l auto getz. the freebies is around the same and also i get 2 year free servicing from TC which if i dun like the servicing of tc, after the free servicing, i can go also outside to do my own servicing. so i actually saved $850 from the 2 years serving which means 6,150 more and i get a 1.6l sunny which is more spacious and 1.6l car. Also sunny come with abs and airbag, the abs cost around 1.5-1.8k to be install outside. thus the effectively means i pay only 4.5k more for a 1.6l, made in jap, more spacious and more reliable, more powerful and better FC car! Aikshin Neutral Newbie November 11, 2004 Share November 11, 2004 actually to put it in a gentleman way , its defnitely a "david vs goliath" comparison for getz 1.3 vs a sunny 1.6 ... moreover comparing a manual vs an auto mode car ... mmm might as well compare the sunny against the optra to have a close comparison instead .... moreover comparing 1.3 vs 1.6 definitely you get a more powerful engine and more space otherwise how to justify the price difference too especially a sedan vs a hatchback, as for FC, well the sunny's FC aint extremely fantastic (compare an auto sunny vs auto getz) too where it has been proven in the shell mileage challenge that a korean car (although not a getz but a picanto) can make it too (without considering the performance of its engine) nevertheless buying a car is always an individual's decision and some people will consider "i just need a point A to point B car, ignoring factors such as engine performance, air bags, abs etc (cause having air bags , abs etc dun make the car any safer if the driver is a hell-driver , he may even be a hazard to spore roads as he may think with air bags and abs he shall have the liberty to drive like a racer) size etc, what are the differences between a sunny vs a getz, there are simply no differences except for the prices to this group of people ; if such a group of people dun exist in spore, korean cars wont be doing better sales nowadays as compared to 3-5 years ago when jap / conti cars rule ... so price and performance wise, of course a 1.6 jap car will beat the getz hands down at the moment nevertheless the japs have also come a long way before gaining acceptance in the automobile industry whereas the koreans are playing catch up hence we have to see in probably 10 yrs time to see has this gap between the jap cars vs korean cars be narrowed, who knows maybe the made in china cars will dominate say 10 yrs down the road nevertheless if most jap cars redeploy the manufacturing out of japan, definitely with the reduced prices will be very competitive, (for eg. toyota) but competition breeds well for the industry although with the spore car pricing it's still pretty costly to maintain a car in spore lets just say there are no winners for all car owners in spore, only the govt earns btw i aint an aivd getz fan, just giving a rationalize overview cheers
Ferrariz Neutral Newbie November 11, 2004 Share November 11, 2004 (edited) Why compare here compare there. Just look at the getz enough, dont have to compare japan vs korea Getz 1.6 DOHC - Price $54,888 (w/coe) or $52,888 if you're willing to wait a few coe bids. Comes with all the freebies as mentioned by AIKSHIN 3 year warranty or 100,000km + 3 free servicing Biggest Advantage : Value for money Exterior : It looks damn good, in fact it looks 98% like a honda fit , if you just add $1,500 for a custom-getz mugen kit. Interior : It has one of the biggest interior , comparable to Chevy Aveo and nissan sunny. With leather seatings and cover, it does not look as cheapo as a proton. Engine : The 16-valve DOHC Alpha-series 1.6L engine has one of the most "responsive" engine comparable to a honda EG civic It comes with ABS , does not come with Airbags. So far the only thing i think getz could do with is a better suspension system, which is a bit suspect when doing a high-speed cornering..again fixable with a visit to the garage. Overall, getz is very moddable, and getz has a wonderful community @ www.getzclub.com http://www.clickfestival.com/bbs/icon/memb.../2/1DFB7425.jpg Edited November 11, 2004 by Ferrariz
Aikshin Neutral Newbie November 11, 2004 Share November 11, 2004 alamak, later on there'll be the jap supporter in again to those newbies prob will assume we are car agents lets just settle on that each and every car got its pros and cons but if the car received accolades from overseas, how wrong can the buyer be by purchasing the car as long as all sporeans can afford a car its already very very good cause maintenance of a car in spore is not cheap cheers
