Hi,

Thanks.

Have you encounter BMW owner complain about fuel consumption? European cars designer put emphasis on safety else they will get sue until broke e.g. Mitsubishi truck case.

Same goes for Sunny. Car is meeting European standard thus it is heavier as compared to my previous B14 model ['98]. Fuel consumption is acceptable in return for a comfy and safety.

My friend went KL recently and covered 350 km for half tank on N16 model EX Auto.

His Car has already covered >20,000 km and it is a Dec'03 model. As pointed out by MCFers, you may expect better FC once >20,000 km mileage. I have to wait and see as mine has just cross 10,000 km.

Cheers,

Hi,

mine is a preFL N16, and it's only 1.5 auto. it has covered >90,000km mileague, so far i am getting an average 12 km/l but it can drop to 10 km/l depends on the traffic condition and the weight of my right foot but i have no complains [thumbsup]

to me anything more than 10km/l is good [rolleyes]

ur car's FC should improve slowly as mileague improve [thumbsup]

hi,

your FC consumption is pretty good!!

We have the same model at home but only getting around 10km/l... did you add any mod to help with the FC?

Good input. Will take note of it, thanks.

My previous B14 is drinking 11.5 km/litre. Comforting to know 12km/litre in Sgp driving condition is possible.

Same, same here. Anything >10 km/l, I am ok. Ride is ok, no regret. Compare to my previous Hyundai Accent 1.5 Manual '95, the experience is different. Do see Koreans are catching up interms of comforty experience with Cerato/Optra.

Cheers,

Hi,

i am still running the stock 14" sport rims, my guess is that u are on 15"? [sweatdrop]

driving habit is also important. it gives me different FC when i drive differently [dead]

and do u get caught in jam very often? i'll get around 10 km/l if i get caught in woodland checkpoint jam for more than 1 hour everyday [sweatdrop]

and how about city vs highway driving? i am doing 70% highway / 30% city [sweatdrop]

and when i get 12 km/l, most of the time i'll be driving alone only. do u fetch ppl around? and do u leave any heavy things in the boot? my car is basically empty except me [laugh]

yup, koreans are keeping up very well [nod]

in fact it doesn't really matter what make is the car, just get it as long as u like it. it's not that we are going to use the car for more than 10 yrs anyway unlike our neighbours' cars over the country of M, their cars has no lifespan which is what i called a true car ownership, envious [bigcry]

Hi,

thanks for the feedback..

no I am on 14" nokian tyres..

Super light right foot, when I drive this car, tend to slightly let go of pedal to change gear at 2000rpm (auto car).... always maintain rpm at around 2000rpm.

but mostly city driving, no jams but lots of starts stops due to red light...

Just switch over to 95 RON from previous 98 and dont' see much change in fuel consumption... so at least save another 5% on petrol cost [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

what petrol are you pumping, any difference for different brands??

Hi,

i am always on mobil synergy F1, which is only available in MY, as it gives good FC to my '74 beetle. never tried other petrol before, so not really sure. [sweatdrop]

start stops traffic can really kill the FC, so i think 10 km/l on ur ride is ok [sweatdrop]

another thing to take note, too light footed driving doesn't really give good FC on my ride. i find changing gears around 2500 rpm gives better FC than changing around or below 2000 rpm, but under one condition: that the rpm must increase rapidly from 2000 to 2500 rpm.. don't ask me how.. coz i don't know how to explain [dizzy]

2nd thing to take note, redline ur ride occasionally to clean the carbon deposit. u can feel increase in engine response almost instantly after u did the redlining [thumbsup]

when u feel that the car is responsive then it should give good FC, otherwise if its sluggish then FC will normally be bad. but in order for it to become responsive, u have to floor it sometimes so that the ECU thinks that u are driving in high throttle mode, so at the end, it still depends on driving habits [sweatdrop]
