DAIHATSU SIRION

I don't think you can compare feature comforts of a 1.3 with that of 1.6 car.

Anyway I test drive the Sirion in June...Its excellent...Do you know its a toyota Passo, so you are buying a toyota...Diat & toyota are sister companies. Its made in Japan.

It has more room than my Toyota Corolla '99...longer wheel base & wider.

I went on PIE on that drive I think the sound proofing is OK.

I felt the interior was unique at least it didn't look fake or "trying to act classy" like Vios or Altas....Sorry guys that's just how I felt abt the latter. Cannot compare the new Toyotas with the old ones...

Anyway I used to drive a Fiat, infact I had a friend who has own 2 Alfas & 2 Fiats before, he is now on a Honda Stream....Personally we both felt that reliability of Jap cars is "no horse run"

Infact the malaysia car producer Predoua.(hope I got it right) has taken the whole car & market as their own its call "MyVi" (I think its stand for My Vision"...hope they bring into Singapore then can buy it as a OPC as a 2nd car...sure cheaper than Sirion...

Hi all bro,

I'm a newbie here and happen to stumble on this thread

while searching for sound insulation thread for my car.

First of all, let me (sort of) identify myself [;)]

I'm a SE from STS. The freebies you get from your own SE

also must depend on the loan amount you take. For the SE who can

give all the above must really salute him. [sweatdrop]

The plus point for the Sirion is the fuel management and the

spaciousness of the car. As for noise level, at crusing on the

expressway, it is surprisingly quiet except for the first/second gear.

Anyway most jap cars will be noisy this way or the other,

thats why I'm here sourcing for sound insulation for my own car [:)]

Frankly, I haven't test drive the new sirion.

But I have tested the 13.DVVT engine in Extol. Wonderful engine for singapore road.

This engine is not for speeding, it's built for fuel econ and reliability.

The best point about this is that it use timing chain and not belt, just like toyota's engine. For singapore road usage, I think can last for 10years without changing the chain as it will not be (unlikely ) that the chain be break like the belt.

Hi, I'm interested to get the Sirion Euro Sports 1.3l. After reading many positive comments on it and test drove it [inlove] , it seems like a good buy. Like to seek some feedback:

1) How's the after sales service of STS?

2) Thinking of getting the Nappa leather seats. Is it worth the extra $800?

3) Not intending to get the sports rims as don't really like the one they have. I'm thinking of changing the sports rim outside. Any comments?

hi ckteddy,

i'm interested in the sirion too. in fact, dropped by STS at kallang on monday. got their new price list. they seem to have a similar promotion as komoco, whereby you can bid for your coe. their minimum bid price is $9K. euro manual priced at $38K without coe. looks like a good deal.

if you bid $9K, it'll only cost u $48K for the sirion. sweet.

not really... i think before their recent price tag in sept (before the crash) was around $52.5K for the manual... something like that. i was following their prices closely, i'm pretty sure there was a price reduction after oct 1st bidding. =)

another forumer (Aidan) showed me the toyota vitz. maybe you can consider tat as well...

it's a PI model. in the classifieds today, the 1.0L version is going for $47K and 1.3L version somewhere around $51K. and according to the omv list (july) from mta, vitz omv is pretty high too. $15.9K for 1.0L and $18.4K for 1.3L.

saw the specs for vitz. 1.0L uses the same engine as daihatsu sirion 1.0L, i think.

You are right. I was following their prices too:

For Euro manual 1.3l,

1) Just b4 Sep 2nd COE bid. $52,788 (Non guarantee COE) + 1k for guarantee

2) Just b4 Oct 1st COE bid. $50,788 (Non guarantee COE) + 1k for guarantee

3) After Oct 1st COE bid. $50,000 (guarantee COE). I think its because of the 12k cat E COE. The STS SE also called me yesterday. Now interested on the Euro Sports manual priced @ $40k without COE. Previously, the price difference between the Standard and Sports is 3k then 2.5k. Now only 2k difference. [thumbsup]

guaranteed COE, oh.. you're right. that was on their latest price list, but i didn't notice that. $50K sounds like a fair deal too.

but i think wait a while more after the spike in oct's 2nd bidding, COE would probably drop further after this batch of current buyers rush in, as mentioned by others on another post somewhere in mcf.

by then, i think sirion at $45K will be a very strong possibility, don't you think? ;P

STS quoted an additional insurance premium of $150 for euro sports. maybe it's better if you just get the normal euro version, then fit the sports kit with STS (or elsewhere) on a separate occasion? $2K for sports kit sounds expensive to me anyway, although sirion looks much better with it. =D

r u considering other cars as well? or r u strictly on a below $50K budget?

If you are comfortable with column mounted gearstick (which just need abit of getting used to), 1L PI Toyota Passo might just be as good an option.

http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/10051.php

You have power with VVTI engine and you save Fuel with tt small 1L engine.Best of all, its a trusted brand =>Toyota

Do check it out. Chip Guan is at the pasar malam beside causeway point till Nov 2. Passo is one of their PI car on show.

Thank you.If the OMV is 13k , than the profit margin is only less than <6k...

(13000 x 2.5 + current coe ~12000)= $44500 cost of car before mark up.

Hi there, i just got my 1.L Passo wit COE at 11900 [laugh] and my OMV at 17600 [laugh][thumbsup]

and the selling price is at 56000 [:|] but that means ( 17600 x 2.5 + 11900 )= $55900 before mark up

[jawdrop] the PI earn only $100???, i m getting sport rIm Rev sensor and alarm too. [laugh][laugh]

Does it means the depreciation of my car for 10 yrs is [ 56000-(17600x0.55parf)/10yrs ] = $4632 per yr. [idea]

[thumbsdown] Exactly what I mean ... before 50788 (non guarantee), after Oct 1st 50000 (guarantee). What happened to 47788 or even 48788 (non guarantee) latest price list shows non guarantee at min bid of 9K. at 9K COE and car at 38K still adds up to 47K but at COE 9K [confused] no way can make it next bid. I prefer 48K non guarantee with 12K COE bid. Any takers? [smash]

How come didn't get the Siron? Isn't it cheap and bigger in CC? I looked at Passo when it was near 65k, rather turn down when I know such a small car is selling so ex. That was 11 months ago.

resale body value of Sirion not too good, compare to a toyota body. Futher more with 1.3L running cost will be higher both insurance and road tax. And looking at the fuel prices it will go up and up. A 1.3 will drink more fuel than a 1.l car. I rather get a higher OMV = paper value car. [;)]

On the net, a 1.l Sirion/Passo performed better than the 1.3l.

If is 11mths ago I wont buy any 1 .l car at 65k, but now -10K and better price, now is the time.

mewmew,

which PI did u get ur passo from? I am also looking at the passo simply because of its lower running cost, trusted brand name, reliable engine and much higher OMV. Did you manage to test drive the car?

Do give me your feedback on the ride of passo. Thanks!
