Kawan 1st Gear May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 Hi, i currently drive a honda civic ( 4 yrs + ), and is very much interested in getting the new Ford Focus 2005 Sedan (76.9K basic) with full bodykit, 17" low profile tyre, rim etc (another 5K). My honda civic is registered in March 2001 (manufactured in 2000), well maintained (full service by Honda according to schedule), with leather seat/sports rim. The trade in value given is only 45K. Comments, suggestions relating to the above will be much appreciated before i made a decision by this weekend. Also, how much "discount" you think i can bargain for the purchase of Ford Focus? What color would you recommend? Would you think the 17" tyre/rim would affect much on the performance of the car? http://www.fordfocus.com.sg/ http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/focus/ind...?section=COLORS http://www.forddesktops.com/browse.asp?f=focus Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
Aspri Clutched May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 IMHO, one is better off waiting for a bit longer for the price to drop as the launch price is rather high. Of course, that is unless one can wait. Any real reason for the hurry?
Acemundo Supercharged May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 brother tot u waiting for 2nd hand....
Kawan 1st Gear May 24, 2005 Author Share May 24, 2005 Thanks ASPRI ... sometimes i do buy things on impulse, and this could be one of the times. For reasons, i could think of the following: 1. My next Honda servicing, road tax is coming soon in 2 to 3 months - hope to avoid that 2. My Honda is coming to 5 years, i understand that it is better to sell off before 5 years due to "export" restriction for the 2nd hand car dealer. 3. The maintenance of my Honda is going up since it is getting older 4. I like to drive new car again :-) 5. I don't want to spend too much by getting a 2.0 (or above) car, and i don't like the look of other 1.6 cars Let me think about it .. further comments are welcomed. Aspri Clutched May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 Not me buying what. It's the brother above!
Aspri Clutched May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 Like that boh pian liao loh although I think reason 4 is the most likely swaying factor. Perhaps you would also like to consider the Astra and Megane which are similar in pricing as well?
Wheel4 Neutral Newbie May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 IMHO, think the price is abit high .. Spec are not consistent, wonder whats the reason for a GHIA model to have a rear drum brakes while the rest are having 4 brake disc ?
Lawrenceloy Neutral Newbie May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 Hey Kawan...it would be a good choice. Black is cool.. I'm also keen on the sedan but would want to wait for the Ghia version.
Mojoe Neutral Newbie May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 (edited) a few of us suspect that we could be getting stock from here and there.. stock which other countries have excess of... so it'll probably be good to wait awhile first .. who knows, we might even get the Ti-VCT engine one later on.. 115bhp compared to Duratec's 100bhp Edited May 24, 2005 by Mojoe
Mojoe Neutral Newbie May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 the new Ford Focus 2005 Sedan (76.9K basic) with full bodykit, 17" low profile tyre, rim etc (another 5K) just curious what that 5k consists of: 1) bodykit 2) 17" rim and tyres (what rims is RM giving? btw) ??? may be better to get some of those stuff outside
Plinius Neutral Newbie May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 hi, have you test drive the new Focus? to me it is a lil underpowered, and you have been driving the Civic for the past 4 yrs, i'm not too sure would u be okay with the lost of power? just my 2 cents worth of view.. cheers.... Kawan 1st Gear May 25, 2005 Author Share May 25, 2005 Having driven Honda Civic for 4 years, i must say the engine is really good and powerful. Nevertheless, i am sick of the look of Civic (both inside and outside) ... i don't think can wait till next year for the new Civic. I have test drive the new Focus for short distance, not too bad. Perhaps a longer test drive and faster speed on the expressway would tell me more.
