At almost $10K more than the Vios, can this cover the so-called savings in fuel consumption?

I doubt so.

For over $60K, there are so many better and bigger cars to choose from.

If in terms of fuel saving alone, no.

But I think ( as I had not owned one before ) that it is a good car. It is up to the individual todecide whether is it worth the $60+K. Each people value things differently.

Based on fuel consumption alone should not be the only reason to choose a Honda Jazz/ Fit

I am proud to be an owner after 2 years, and although there are times when I am looking to upgrade for family reasons, the same reasons why I first bought the car held me back.

Reasons (other than FC) are :

1) Road Tax lower, it's a 1.3/4 afterall

2) Numerous Aftermarket options to turn a cutesy to something else, make the car unique

3) Interior is large and comfortable, and extremely deceiving for a "small car". Makes upgrading cars seem only for engine capacity :P

4) Reliability - no problems whatsoever

5) Japan Made and Assembled - I know this may sound silly to some, but I still prefer Japan made cars, I have heard horror stories about "made in Thai" cars, even though they are under the "RELIABLE" brand, although they are minor failures, not big overhaul types.

6) It's a Honda :)

Downside:

1) Lack of Power declared by a no. of folks. Although I tend to tad disagree.

2) Higher Initial Price

Also, in a class for class match, Vios should not be compared to Jazz, more so Vios compared to City, since they are priced against each other, and both are sedans assembled in Thailand.

BTW, the argument of price has so many angles, it's like saying a 1.6 Getz which is way cheaper than 1.5 Vios, is it then worth getting Vios becos of the brand alone? or 1.5 Mercedes A Class, is it really better than Honda Jazz 1.4 for the extra 30K? Subjective to many.

another point to look at is that the jazz is also more chio then the other cars mentioned....

this again can be subjective... and i also know a few ppl who prefer other makes as compared due to price... this are the ppl who rather get back their money's worth than go for asthetic....

if u ask me... the jazz still retains the 'old-school' look... which i personally prefered....

u ask me which is the better designed jap cars.... i will tell u cars from the EG or EK series....

looks so much better than the current civics..... personal opinion nia....

no need to [rifle] me for that....

Agree with Wh1tehat!!

Call me biased, me being a recent owner of Jazzie....

It's an amazing lifestyle car:

- Transported a 2m bookshelf from Ikea.

- Transported 2 suitcases in the boot w/o needing to flatten the rear seats (I guess it's becos for hatchbacks, you can put the suitcases standing upright - for sedans have to lay suitcases on the sides).

- Almost transported a sick family member aka ambulance fashion...

- Excellent FC, good pickup

- Cool cute looks, fun car

- Huge interior space (looks are extremely deceiving)....check out the sanmen diagrams of Jazz vs. Civic and you'll see that they are very similar.

- Japan made

- You'll never seem to be out of place with it, whether u are a modder, modest n safe driver, yuppie, small family man, speedster, tortoise driver, office man, etc.

For Size, Interior Space & Power....I take the Matrix with a Big $$$$ Saving.

Matrix downside [bigcry] is the 9-10km/L FC & Road noise [jawdrop] ...

my 2 cents as Ex Matrix owner for 41 months. Now testing AVEO5 HB Auto.

Supercharged

pal,

not all the 10K goes to Kah Motors and Honda lah.....

examine the difference in OMV and then multiply that by the duties and taxes and gst and you will know where the difference goes.

the same logic applies why Komoco strips its car bare, lower omv, smaller multiplier effect, significant savings lulling the buyers into thinking the car is very much cheaper or that Komoco earns much less.

You can't really compare based on price alone or else no one will buy Civic over Altis and no one will buy Altis over Lancer. A lot of subjective factors goes into car buying decision. Image of the brand, perceived quality, car design etc etc which cannot be justified just based on price alone.
