actually octy tour auto is $70k (not $72.9k) & OMV is

$17K. it comes with

1. leather seat

2. remote control

3. on board computer

4. 15"rims (incldg Momo rims)

5. cd changer

etc..

i cannot deny that the style of Focus is better, and

same goes to safety (Focus achieved Europe NCAP 5 stars,

but octy achieved 4).

 

But, a few points Octy won my vote:

A) the drive is more germanic than Focus

B) totally reliable. (after i tested the new oct, i drove

my 4.5 yrs old octy. there is no drop in comfort/feel).

C) most of all, it is a VW Golf IV standard under a more

humble skin.

D) it saves me $7k (compare to the Focus)

Octy has 102bhp on tap, it weighs 1.2+ tonnes.

actually no big deal to some Jap saloon cars

which boast 109bhp etc. But it can overtakes

them, especially easy when it comes to bends

Focus price is $76.9K, but Regent Motors is hungry for sales.

 

I can choose $4K worth of accessories or get $4K off, meaning I pay only $72.9K. Thi sis only $3K more than the Octavia Tour.

 

They are also willing to overlook the $2K penalty I have to pay should I decide not to take any loan.

 

I did my sums and the cost price of the Focus plus taxes and COE is only $58K, so the profit margin for Regent Motors is huge. There is room to bargain.

 

And yes, it is personal preference on whether the Octavia or Focus is a better buy.

 

CA should further reduce the price of the Octavia to gain mkt share.
