  1. Have been doing quite often nowadays. Most riders are ok.

You do more you move up the tier. Commission cut from 10% to 8% to 5%. Somemore if the rider no show, can claim 50% of the fare.

5% is not too bad la.

    I rarely stack though.

It is not easy to reach the "Champ" position and retain it. You have to die die do at least 2 hitches for all 30 days to meet their points. I used to be in the Champ category but recently grab removed the CBD pickup \ drop from the 3X points. So, I am not able to meet the 35K points. Now in this quarter in Pro but from next month, i will move down to the next tier of 10%.

  2. My unpleasant experience with SGCARS4U from new car buying

I signed an agreement on 16 Feb 19 for customised make and delivery of a brand new car from UK. On 17 Feb, I Whatsapp SGCARS4U to affirmed the delivery mileage. It was noted as 20km.

When the car was available and a video was forwarded to me in Mar 19, I realised the wheel rim was wrong.

Immediately I highlighted and I was given option to (1) get discount of GBP600 for the wrong rim, (2) order new car or (3) get the rim replaced. When I decided to get (1) few days later, they already proceed with (3).

This waiting and changing of rim took additional few weeks.

Because all the cost are transparent and all to be borne by myself, Even as COE went up north by May when I finally acquired, I only blame myself for not having the foresight to get it earlier after I ordered in Feb 19.

Everything was alright to me at this point.

In June 19, when the car finally reached Singapore and driven out from port, things went unpleasant:

    • New Car key comes without protective plastic and have dented spot and multiple scratches (See picture
    • Car bumper have 1x deep cut (See picture)
    • Car clocked mileage of 106.1km (See picture)
    I am now stucked.

For 1 and 2. SGCARS4U told me that they be replaced with new as claimable from freight company. I keep my fingers crossed.

For 3, that’s the most triggering. Because back in Feb after we signed agreement. I asked him the mileage I am expecting. SGCARS4U told me “should be 20km” on WhatsApp. I took their word in good faith and expected he had been made known my expectations and followed thru to ensure his UK rep did likewise. He also assured me that all movement are done via tow truck.

When I confronted SGCARS4U on WhatsApp after I found the mileage, his replied was “Should be leh ...Never say will...I not in UK ...How to guarantee u man”. Straight away, I told myself I should pursue and seek satisfactory compensation. SGCARS4U said they wasn’t oblige to deliver a Low mileage new car.

Currently everything is still in limbo with SGCARS4U. SGCARS4U still insisted I continue to give my payment based on agreement.

I am sharing my story here to tell everyone to take note of car buying with the PI. Please make sure whatever expectations u have about the car you buying better be made known during agreement signing.

Any damage during transit is not in control of the agent, they have to rectify it through their freight insurance claim. I bought new car from komocco and the mileage is already 60 km. So, you just have to close your eyes and accept it rather making things more unpleasant and make things worse before taking delivery. Any defects, you get it in writing from them that they will fix it otherwise hard to contest.

  4. Looks like the testing of battery by kmc not really accurate?

I doubt whether they tested or not. My mechanic once told me that the battery is weak, i ignored him and two weeks down the line, the battery died at my office car park.

  5. to confirm ECU problem, they need to install the "problem" ECU onto another car and see if problem follows. It is not a simple plug into computer.

Many dealers don;t do that. Its very troublesome; sometimes difficult to find same car model. Definitely > 20 min. Sometimes they connect OBD connector to car check for troublecode. If there is no Check Engine Light (MIL), it might not be ECU problem as no trouble code.

If there is trouble code, it might also not be ECU problem. ECU is just responsible to flag out the troublecode. The real problem might be something else.

ECU is the most easiest to replace, so most dealers will recommend changing the ECU and will proceed to claim warranty if ECU is < 5 year old. Most don;t bother to verify the problem.

If ECU is > 5 years old, dealers can't claim warranty. dealers will charge a premium to change new ECU, which may take some time to order.

Installing in another car way of trouble shooting is very primitive. Plugging to computer is not by every workshop cup of tea, only a handful of workshop have the core ECU troubleshooting capability with specific software. I am talking about pure ECU troubleshooting not the issue of the car. If ECU troubleshooting, 20 mins is sufficient to decide whether your ECU is fine or not and if it is in good shape, then it is absurd to change it and the genuine workshop wouldn\t recommend and moreover, changing ECU is not going to fix the issue {if the issue is not due to ECU} . I am talking about the workshop where they can service up to PCB level which is again more than swapping a ECU..

I took a specialized workshop for ECU repair, since my regular workshop was struggling with OBD and other guessing type, but usually I am against changing anything which they are not 100% sure.

  6. Any electronic board inside the Gearbox? From the way the mechanic say, seems to be inside the box.

When I changed my ECU. the ECU will have different processor for engine and gear box. You can easily differentiate them by comparing manual car ECU vs Auto car ECU.

I don't know whether any pcb inside gearbox but very unlikely. If ECU repair they has to do the diagnosis by taking the ECU from your car and plug to a computer to know the exact issue. If they are not really sure, then cannot simply say the board is spoilt. But all my hypothesis are only by observation. I am not a mechanic. But I ask lot of logical questions to mechanic and try to get answer. Some are very interested to explain others take it as offensive whether I am doubting them. Checking an ECU will not take more than 20 mins

  7. Had visited some workshop and change ATF oil and filter. Still the same problem.

Hard to troubleshoot i think because only encounter if long duration did not drive.

1 workshop quite sure is electronic board . Quoted around 500.

Good to go or better go back Komoco?

    Which electronic board? ECU?

  8. Hi all,

Last weekend Hyundai is at ViVo roadshow.  They offer additional $2000 discount  off the printed price.

SE told me that with this price, there is no free engine oil/filter, only free labour.  Is it true?

Printed prices are very much subjective. When i bought, i got 6k lesser than the printed price, moreover, these are not discount, rather move the servicing package to upfront lesser price, you can get another 2k lesser price if you are willing to go for 6 bid Non Guarantee bid, but SE will not disclose immediately, you have to ask them. What was the printed price they offered?

  9. More like they're trolling. I'd love to share the screenshot but wouldn't wanna offend them publicly, though they should really get their sheet together.

As a buyer I have a different experience, whenever I see a car listed in sgcarmart advt-ed by Carro, i would send them the WhatsApp message but will get a response after few days saying that the salesperson whatsapp have an issue. I always wondered how come the whole world is using WhatsApp and only these selective people have an issue. From there I stopped sending the request to Carro advt cars. To me it is clear that they have no interest in selling the car

  10. Yup great car (manual) with enough power and fuel efficient too. Driving it now with extended COE (quite low too).

Exactly, for a 2Ltr car, I easily used to get close to 11 to 12kms / ltr which is not bad at all. Moreover, what I liked in the car are power and precision, cornering was always perfect. For a B&B car, you can't ask more. Ironically, Nowadays most of the B&b cars are more boring to drive. I am the kind of person who gets excited every time I get behind the wheels. I seriously wish Mitsubishi \ Nissan will revive the model again. Certainly, there is a good fan following for that model.

  11. @Agalvilaku

I have a Mitsubishi Lancer EX 2.0 GT (Manual), COE expiring on 29 Oct 2019, COE was $19,510, minimum PARF benefit $11,056. I am the first and only owner. Accident-free. You (or anyone interested) may PM me your quote, thank you. Alternatively, you may text me at 9.4.2.3.0.1.5.5

As i have a voice impairment, communication by text is preferred. I can speak with some difficulty, but not for prolonged periods.

Couple of years before I was having Lancer EX 2.0 M GT, it was a joy to drive the car and since the COE was at the peak, decided not to extend, Car was at excellent condition. On hindsight, I should have extended it for another 10 yrs. sent you whatsapp message.

  12. I think you can't control the profit margin... but you can decide if the depreciation per year is worth while or not lor... so if there's 5 years left and you've got to pay $25,000... that's $5000 a year on a car that's probably going to be reliable. Factor in about $500-1000 a year for replacement repairs on wear and tear stuff, and you're looking at about $6000 a year depreciation...

Compare that to a new base trim Avante or Cerato which is basically better specced than the COE Avante... these new models cost around $70,000 (round up) and possibly including loan interest payment, should be around there. With the OMV around $12,000, deduct PARF of $60,000, you're left with $62,000 over 10 years, which works out to about $6,200 a year... you probably don't need to spend much in the first 5 years... so a brand new car is pretty competitive with these COE cars...

The only advantage that a COE car has is that the total value is much lower, so even with the mandatory deposit, the cash outlay is probably manageable for those in the marginal group, so there in lies the attraction of COE cars...

I myself have an avante expiring this month. Not yet decided whether to buy another used car or renew the current one. The current one, i was driving for last one year and have spent close to 1500 in repair, ECU failed and sensor failed and cv bush changed. Being said that, if i renew the coe then my car\s depreciation will be 3700 per year.

  13. When the second-hand car dealer brings in the admin fee during negotiation, I will straight away say that I am not paying the admin fee and either you add to your selling price from that we will negotiate. But some dealers would insist for admin fee not part of the car price and then I would simply walk out. They are selling their inventory and why the hell we need to pay a fee to buy from them?

  14. the dealer's margin is too much,

some COE cars have an absurd profit margin but not all. I have seen some reasonably priced COE cars too but they sell fast. if they have repainted and done the seats, then we can add another 1300 to the cost. But what is most important is internal than aesthetics.

  15. May I know how you count the dealer 19k buy a COE renew Avante,

current PQP is 26k around, 5 years COE should be 13k

The parf value of the expiring Avante 09 is close to 4900 to 5,500 and POP is 13000, body value 500. The cost should be around that 19K

  16.

saw some 2009 Avante 5 years COE cars 25 to 27k around, is it worth to buy

It depends upon the condition of the car. But i would not pay 25k for Avante. The actual cost for the dealer to buy a coe expiring car and renew is 19K. If he resell as it is, then the ideal price cannot be more than 22 to 23 K.

  17. Hi, I have a unit of Kia Cerato, good condition to renew Coe, pls whatsapp me if u are interested, 98326732.

This thread is for an owner to list their car nearing coe and similarly for those you wish to buy those cars, though based on your previous post, we know that you are a reseller, it would be fair for you to list the details of the car instead of just scouting here to sell your stocks. The objective of these threads is transparency.

  18. I just gave away 2 of the remaining vouchers for Jan.

One to a uncle queuing to pay and the other to a guy walking in to make payment. They gladly took it. I mean, who doesn’t want to save extra $5?

Just open mouth and ask if they want.

Pay it forward guys, one day it might come back to you.

That\s what i do usually. If the coupon is expiring and will give it to the people behind me in the queue or if the station is empty then will handover the cashier to give it to other patrons. They will accept gladly. I myself have been benefitted by other people who left their coupons with the cashier before.
