Most of you readers out there know about the BMW X6. BMW's crossover vehicle that is essentially a hatchback on stilts. Or if your imagination is as warped as mine the X6 is actually a Proton Gen 2 photoshopped to 1.5times larger with a different grille and larger wheels for that crossover look. Anyway, BMW is now offering it as a five seater instead of the usual four. The rear seats is now a normal looking bench instead of individual rear seats. Beginning April 2011, customers in Europe and the rest of the world sometime soon will be able to buy a sloping rear roofline X6 as a normal five seater with the exception of the X6 Active hybrid (which I believe uses part of this rear space to store chunky batteries). You could previously buy the X6 with in its four seat layout previously (the rear seats are individual type seats) and now you can opt for the X6 without the lage center console storage box and fit three full sized adults back there. That is if you believe the photos of the smiling models in the rear of the X6 that BMW are throwing at us. The photographs actually tell us that you can actually fit three adults with legroom and headroom to spare in a vehicle that was designed with a sloping rear hatchback. It isn't like the X5 where is looks like a traditional SUV and the passenger cabin is basically a box. It must be marketing magic as the three people shown in the photos look super happy to be in the rear of the X6. Other additions to the 2011 X6 include new leather options, pedal shifters for all models, something called Comfort Access System which lights up the car's surrounding for better ingress and exit, a new 20inch wheel option and an Iphone connectivity kit. Whatever the case, do X6 owners actually carry people around in the first place?
