Wonder what is the performance of this turbocharged car? It is 1.8litre and a turboed MPV is really rare

Everytime I see someone driving a Mitsubishi Dion, I will ask myself why would anyone want to buy such an ugly car.... Eversince I first saw it ... till now ... Today, both me and my collegue were in the office carpark, and he "chio" me to peek into other's MPV... There's this Dion parked there and I thut just go see see ... To my surprised, the interior is much bigger than STREAM and PRAIRIE that I was eyeing. Still can't get over the look .... and my collegue rationalize that I should be looking at space utilization and practicality. Well, vaguely remembered that Dion is replaced with a 1.8T .. so called up the Mitsubishi showroom. Was surprised that the car is priced at $103,888 ! OK, decided to take a look on the way home.... Stepped into the showroom and wat appeared in front of me wasn't recognizable as a DION at first glance! - 17" rims, rear roof spoiler and completely new front light and bumper and rear light cluster cover (revealing only round lights). More like the Dingo ! Opened the door and sat inside. I am greeted by firstly a nice dash with nice steering wheel. Guages are red in color when lighted. Seats are suede/leather and it even completes with a VCD player/roof-mounted LCD screen by Kenwood. Only to be disappointed that 17" rims, suede/leather and VCD/LCD are $4000 extra. Next proceed to view the seat configuration. The seats and leg room at the last row is pretty comfortable. In fact, can match my Sunny's rear leg room ! Headroom is also good. To my surprise is also the ability to hide the last row seat into the floorboard ! Machiam like Zafira. The catch is that the spare tyre is hanging outside the car at the bottom. OK... impressed with what I've seen at a "reasonable" price for a new mini-MPV. Next proceed to try out the 1.8T (165bhp/220Nm). The car idles very quietly. The pickup is good, but slightly rough. Gear shift shocks are minimal. Max torque is at 3,500rpm, thus very very drivable in city traffic. Next I tried travelling at low constant speed to occasional acceleration (simulate traffic jam) and the DION doesn't feel like it's 1.4ton ! Rev it harder, it'll run out of steam shortly .... However, understand that the 4G93 Turbo engine is popular in Malaysia on Protons and easily upgraded to 200bhp !!! Took a corner at high speed, though the vehicle "tilt" to one side, but still pretty managable. All in all, for $103,888 I think the DION is pretty worth while for money. Too bad, the shape though had been improved a lot, still looked like a beefed-up Hyundai Matrix .... Cons: Fuel Consumption unknown, japanese style plain dash and reliability of Mit engine/gearbox, potentially less than favorable resale value
