  1. CNA news report : New PG13 rating comes into effect Friday SINGAPORE : A new PG13 rating covering films, television programmes and videos comes into effect Friday. It is part of broader efforts to make ratings more easily understood and was one of the recommendations of the Censorship Review Committee that was accepted by the government last year. Previously, films, television programmes and videos had their own classification system. Now it is just one standard rating. The new PG13 rating indicates content that may not be suitable for children under 13, so parental discretion is advised. These shows have dark themes, some violence, realistic and intense horror, sexual humour and coarse language. Some films previously rated PG (Parental Guidance) such as "Dark Knight" and "Ip Man 2" or NC16 such as "Meet the Fockers" will fall under the new category, but media regulator Media Development Authority said the numbers will likely be small. The regulator classifies about 750 films on average each year, of which 70 per cent are given a PG rating. Its director of content and standards, Amy Chua, estimates that out of this, only about 5 per cent will be rated PG13. PG13 will also be the maximum rating for films and dramas on free-to-air television channels, but such content will only be allowed after 10pm. Sala boh. ........... after 10 pm than can watch...... no need to sleep for next working day meh .... Like that, all evening shows will be cartoon shows lor
