  1. people keep saying better infrastructure... what do you mean by better infrastructure? What sort of improvements will make you switch from car to MRT. For me, I think they need to build EXPRESS MRT to connect the regional centers. I am more familiar with the North so theoretically the MRT should go like that Woodloands -> AMK -> TPY -> Orchard -> Raffles Place. Takes 10-15mins to reach city from Woodlands. From Jurong east, 2-3 stops to Orchad Road -> Raffles place -> 2-3 stops to Tampines -> Changi business park. Takes 10-15mins to reach city from the regional centers. If that is possible, who will want to drive? I see the new MRT lines all have MANY MANY stops. Example thomson line. It takes like 2 more stops to go from AMK to ORchad if you use thomson line compared to the NS line. I think that is not the way to go... What I personally want is express MRT. Imagine if you have express MRT, 90% will switch to MRT if the connections are workable for them. As long as you connect up the Major centers, you can remove a lot of car traffic.
  2. Thinking of improving the stopping capability from stock for the purpose of safety rather then looks. Current ride is a S80 with stock 16" rims. So wondering what would be a good? Any comments on a combination fo the following: 1. Steel brake lines 2. Larger rotors (I think the stock ones are 302mm, with single piston calipers) 3. Performance brake pads (low dust ones would help keeping rims clean) 4. Move to Dot 5 brake fluid 5. Upgrade to 4 caliper brakes from the usual brands, i.e. Brembo, AP Racing etc. Would also like comments on which aftermarket rims would clear the calipers and rotors. Stock wheels are 5x108 PCD. Thanks for any comments!
  3. Read an article from a magazine where they modify a Scion tC step by step and dyno the differences. Here's the results. I've modified the prices from the "advertised" price to more reasonable street price. ==========hp===torque==Price Baseline......138....150.1 Exhaust......+3.7...+3.9...$722 Header.......+9.3...+3.....$393 CAI...........+2.2...+2.4...$250 Total:.......+15....+9....$1365 11% hp improvement 6% torque improvement Too bad they didn't add engine management, the article says they expect 5-10 extra hp.
  4. A list of the improvements made to the Volvo range for the 2004 model year in UK. Not sure if we'll see some of the enhancements in the cars from the local agent, SM Motors, though. ================================================================================ ========== 30-Apr-03 There
