  1. My Alpine HU (CDM series) has all but died on me, Radio stations keep skipping, in-built cd player has broken a couple of its components, and now there's no sound, even when the changer is playing. All of which sounds like a hefty repair bill, so I'm thinking of replacing it altogehter. The problem is, the CDM series has been superseeded by the CDA series, whose HUs are incompatible with CDM changers. I went to Pin Liang and had a listen to one of their CDM HUs ($300-ish), but the sound was disappointing. They did mention it was the bottom of the range, and that the one in the Focus is better (I agree). So the choices I have are: buy the low-end HU and keep the changer and settle for lousy sound; chuck both and start from scratch, incurring a cost of close to $1k; or possibly find a second-hand replacement for the existing HU. On that note, I was wondering if anyone was changing their HUs, and is willing to sell at a reasonable cost. It would be a perfect fit, and I would have music back at last in the car!
