Following the Fluence Z.E. all-electric sedan concept's unveiling at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and last December's presentation of the Kangoo Van Z.E. prototype at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Renault recently unveiled the finalized designs of both models.

The French automaker said that customers in Europe and selected countries including Singapore, South Africa and Russia can pre-reserve their vehicle at www.renault-ze.com. First batch of delivery is expected in the first half of 2011.

The Fluence Z.E is powered by an electric motor producing 94HP and 226Nm of torque that motivates the front wheels through a direct drive transmission. The capacity of the Fluence Z.E.'s lithium-ion battery is 22kW/h. The battery itself tips the scales at 250kg and is located behind the rear seats. The driver can charge the battery through a household supply, at fast charge stations using a 32A 400V supply or via a QuickDrop battery switch system that will enable the car's battery to be swapped in approximately three minutes at bespoke battery exchange stations. Fully charged, the Fluence Z.E. has a driving range of up to 160km with a top speed of 130km/h.

Continuing with the Kangoo Z.E., the small van is powered by a 59HP electric motor with 226Nm of peak torque that drives the front wheels. The lithium-ion battery is located in a central position beneath the floor, enabling the Kangoo Z.E. to boast the same carrying capacity as the internal combustion-engined model. The battery can be charged via a household main supply (16A 220V) for about six to eight hours, offering an operational range of 160 km.

That's a nice concept. Honestly, I'm not really an avid fan of Renault but seeing this electric vehicles makes me interested about it especially with the Fluence. This is my first time seeing some cool and promising vehicles from Renault. I kinda like the Fluence body design and lights. Also, I'm quite curious to see how it's engine will perform and how long the battery switch will last on the Fluence in actual run. Hopefully, Renault would release it in the market very soon.

  • Manchester United's "promising" transfer window should be taken with a pinch of salt

Having followed this club for more than 20 years, I'm well aware that a promising transfer window does not directly equate to an improved season. Forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, as well as Diego Leon, the young Paraguayan wing-back, have been Manchester United's signings for the 2025 summer transfer window so far. On paper, this team should have no problem challenging for silverware. On the pitch, the current crop of players finished 15th last season. While both Cunha and Mbeumo ha

In life, there is no pleasure without pain

Before anything else, let me assure you that this is not about BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadism, masochism). Like many of my posts, this is an observation about life. More specifically, the duality of pain and pleasure that exists within it. Let's consider the analogy of light and dark: A room seems bright because the darkness subdued. Yet without the presence of darkness, how do we perceive the brightness of the light? Similarly, we cannot savour the sweetness of pleasure without the

    Movile Cave: Aliens on Earth

Picture this: a subterranean hideaway so exclusive, it's been sealed off from the outside world for a cool 5.5 million years. Yep, the Movile Cave is a strange alien universe right here on Earth, tucked underneath the Romanian coast.  It may be just 20 metres below ground, but the Movile Cave is about as alien an environment as you will find anywhere on Earth. With no interference from the plebeian air that we breathe and light that we see, the cave instead is a concoction of sulphuric
