blogentry-133713-0-06237400-1403935645_thumb.jpgEnjoy driving? So do we. But Singapore is not the place for drivers to have fun with the limited amount of good roads to drive on. So I hopped over to Yong Peng, Malaysia with a few others to scratch our driving itch. Like most folks who go into Malaysia for drives, meeting in the wee hours of the morning is the most suitable so as to avoid the jam.

blogentry-133713-0-83051500-1403935652_thumb.jpgSo why Yong Peng? Because there is this stretch of B-roads nearby that was probably designed by people who love to drive. But first we had to hit the highway for an hour or so. For those of you who are wondering, yes, that's the Ignis Sport that I drove up to Penang a couple of months ago. Bittersweet feeling seeing it again.

blogentry-133713-0-66096400-1403935689_thumb.jpgAnd then the we hit the B-roads. Jalan Paloh as it is named, is around 20km long.

blogentry-133713-0-49303800-1403935699_thumb.jpgPlenty of twist and turns while going over crests with decreasing radiuses to challenge the keen drivers. Occasional potholes ensure those on coilovers have a good back massage.

blogentry-133713-0-32774600-1403935709_thumb.jpgHaving a regroup here before we head for breakfast.

blogentry-133713-0-22374800-1403935722_thumb.jpgNothing much is operational in the town of Kluang on a Sunday morning. Looking for somewhere to have breakfast was harder than we thought.

Settled for some Maggi Goreng at the Railway Station. Can't remember exactly how much it was but it was very reasonably priced.

blogentry-133713-0-40092800-1403935753_thumb.jpgAfter feeding ourselves, it was time to feed the cars.

blogentry-133713-0-40799700-1403935768_thumb.jpgThen it was time to head back. Same road but everything in reverse.

blogentry-133713-0-24820900-1403935789_thumb.jpgBut before we end the day, we dropped by this empty area to have a bit of unrestricted fun.

blogentry-133713-0-92783700-1403935806_thumb.jpgWe mapped out a small route which simulated an autocross event and pushed hard.

blogentry-133713-0-78029800-1403935876_thumb.jpgBut that wore out fast and we soon found ourselves doing silly stuff. Tandem front-wheel drive drifts anyone?

blogentry-133713-0-64492500-1403935922_thumb.jpgHow the area looks like from the outside.

blogentry-133713-0-11832100-1403935935_thumb.jpgWith much balder tyres, we headed back into Yong Peng for lunch before the drive home.

The fishball noodle was surprisingly good or I was very hungry. Will be back for this when the next driving trip calls.

Very keen on knowing the exact location of the empty area? Please give GPS coordinates. You're welcome to PM me if it's private.

Looks like an abandoned karting track, is that what it is?

Felt like half an hour. Not sure to be honest.

You will pass it on the way to Kluang on the J16. I don't have the exact location.

Seems like a small area for drifters.

  • Manchester United's "promising" transfer window should be taken with a pinch of salt

Having followed this club for more than 20 years, I'm well aware that a promising transfer window does not directly equate to an improved season. Forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, as well as Diego Leon, the young Paraguayan wing-back, have been Manchester United's signings for the 2025 summer transfer window so far. On paper, this team should have no problem challenging for silverware. On the pitch, the current crop of players finished 15th last season. While both Cunha and Mbeumo ha

The enduring charm of Singapore wet markets

I know I’m idealising it all - as a not-so-young millennial that can’t remember the last time he cooked a full meal for himself. (That was probably a good two years ago.) But moving on slightly from morning walks now, the space I’ve found myself frequenting when I feel like I need a break from the routines of everyday life (or to simply clear my head) isn’t the park. It’s the basement level of Punggol Plaza. That a wet market even exists here should be surprising. Punggol, after all, is qui

A 20-year journey, an old passion rekindled

For us 90s babies, the Holy Trinity of Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network formed a big part of our childhood. The internet was just about coming into fruition, with the rise of a plethora of websites with numerous entertaining flash games and of course, the early days of YouTube. And though those things have come and gone, one thing in my life remained constant: My love for Pokemon. I first got into Pokemon 20 years ago, and I remember exactly how it went down. Let me set the

    Movile Cave: Aliens on Earth

Picture this: a subterranean hideaway so exclusive, it's been sealed off from the outside world for a cool 5.5 million years. Yep, the Movile Cave is a strange alien universe right here on Earth, tucked underneath the Romanian coast.  It may be just 20 metres below ground, but the Movile Cave is about as alien an environment as you will find anywhere on Earth. With no interference from the plebeian air that we breathe and light that we see, the cave instead is a concoction of sulphuric
