Come across sound clad from a car mag, wonder if this is effective?

Had done a search and found some previous discussion on sound clad, but I feel that the opinion are quite divided.

Wonder if I can reopen this for discussion.

Understand that there are Sound clad and sound clad plus, and road noise can be reduced through sound proofing and the type of tyres used.

Like to heard from those who had done sound clad and/or sound plus....

Don't expect Lexus Quality after sound clad. Your road noise will just sound muffled.

To effective reduce road noise, sound clad alone is not enuf. You'll need to sound proof your car interior with a base layer of bitumen sheet, followed by a sound absorbing foam on top of that.

Make sure the added layers are too not thick or your carpet will not fit back nicely. Soundproofing of the firewall is alos important. Finally change your OEM tyres to quiet tyres if you are still not satisfied after that.

Oh ya btw you may notice your engine noise to be louder, when it's actually becos the road noise is softer.

thanks for the advise, yap I dont expect Lexus quality after sound clad. from what you mentioned this looks like a long list... I just wanna reduce the road noise, as on some part of the xpressway the road noise quite loud. of course mine tyres did contribute some noise...

I had tried Altis on the same stretch of road vs mine (Lancer) and noticed the difference in the road noise... the SE told me that this is the sound proofing when I ask about the lower road noise in Altis... But the tyres on Altis is Bridgestone whereas mine is Yokohama...

Need to hear more from the rest who had done sound clad for feedback....
