Yeah, I know the PCV's on the other side of the engine cover, but I wanted to find out how much air was pulled thru the engine cover, so I disconnected the end that I mentioned. If I disconnected the hose on PCV side of the engine cover, all I would get would be the engine's vacuum suction, not the flow controlled by the PCV.

I should be right, right??? [sweatdrop][laugh]

I know a guy in Kedah/Perak who's distributing the Ecotek... he said he got better mileage after installation. Forgot the exact figures... [:/] But I do remember that he rear-ended his Satria onto another car not long after using Ecotek... probably not used to the power surge yet!

There's another new type of air injector, the SEP (Super E-Power) Air Injector, imported from Germany. My colleague happens to know the guy who's importing this into M'sia, and he and another fren driving a Wira turbo got free trials. He said he noticed better power, and the car went soft after uninstalling the 2 units from his Kancil. This SEP AI duzzen suck in extra air like the original AI does, but is simply installed inline to the vacuum hose. I think the air passing thru it is ionised to give better combustion.

Assassin,

You may wish to call Marc Chan @ 94504892 to find out pricing for Ecotek.

I had used it before and sold it off.

The physical connection is to connect 1 end to the Vaccum hose, and the other end to the intake manifold (as near as possible).

By adjusting the valve, you will bleed air (suction from vaccum hose)into the intake manifold. It is suppose to cure "flat spot" in the lower rpm range, more pronouce in auto cars. The other benefit is to improve fuel economy, but provided that it is highway driving.

When I had the unit, the throttle felt more "lively" and more willing to get off the line with a slight tap.

However, you need to find a proper installer as it will need to cut you vacuum hose, which one end is connected to the brake servo pump. If the hose are not tightened properly, you may get "mushy" brake feel, although it is subjective to each vehicle and design.

While I was doing mostly city driving nowadays, I don't really see any fuel economy with the Ecotek. However, due to the better "throttle feel", I tends to rev more = more fuel consumed.

Just for recommendation, should you decide to invest in one, go for the one with a Piper-X filter, and it will made your maintenance much easier. Basically it is a mini-air filter and you can wash it whenever you need to service the unit.

Another thing is that when you send your car to workshop, it is advisable to close the ecotek valve and let them do the normal servicing, which may include ECU reset or fault reading. Once you get the car out of the workshop, you can retune the Ecotek.....just listen to the "sluurrp" sound... [laugh]

I tend to do a lot of city driving as well...a lot of start stop driving. So I may not get the same kind of fuel economy as I would like also from this Ecotek I suppose. sweatdrop.gif

And having to cut my hose also...sweatdrop.gif...nah...dont think I'll risk it.

Thanx anyway ! thumbsup.gif

Maybe can ask the installer to throw in an extra hose for connecting between the Ecotek and the intake manifold, so that yr hose doesn't get cut.

no, that wouldn't do.

Imagine this - Ecotek is a T-shape connector with 3 side - Side A,B & C.

Side A goes to the intake manifold, Side B goes to the vaccum hose (Brake vaccum / pump) and Side C is the open-air valve, where the air will flow in.

Thus, you cannot use another hose beacuse end of the day you will still need to cut and insert into the existing hose that is connecting between the brake vaccuum pump and the intake manifold.

So..No..no. [;)]
