Hi all,

I'm ignorant about mods except for the bits and pieces I pick up on the forums - from threads or from direct advice of experienced bros. Hope to get some more advice here! [:)]

Problem: 1.5l CVT car with below-average pick-up from standstill. [shakehead]

Objective: Get good pick-up and have a nice, deep bassy sound (intake and exhaust). [sly]

Also, pass inspection. Latio is ultimately built for comfort, not perfomance, so I'm not expecting too much or going too far with these. Some genuinely noticeable improvement in pick-up is good enough.

Looking at the above, I should be focusing on improving the low-end right? First, I'd like to clarify "low-end". Does it mean the lower bands of the rpm range, e.g. 0-3,000rpm, or does it refer to speed ranges, e.g. 0-50kmh? I think it's the former, but then if I, eg, rev to 4,000rpm from standstill, would I be using low-end or mid-end already? [dizzy] Someone resolve my confusion!

I've been advised to do the following:

1) Intake - Do drop-in instead of open pod. (Latio comes with stock CAI.)

Was pretty keen on Apexi open pod but the consensus is that low end will suffer. As for drop-ins, I've seen some serious and credible bashing of oiled and stainless steel filters in another thread. [sweat]

2) Extractor - 4-2-1 with pipe diameter up to 1.75"

Illegal but not obvious and can pass inspection?

3) Muffler - Semi-flow

Any approved ones for Latio yet? Which one gives nice, bassy note?

Any and all comments appreciated.
