Koolaba 1st Gear January 27, 2003 Share January 27, 2003 "Clear coat" is a lacquer layer. This is only applicable for metallic/mica paint systems. Basically, for metallic/mica paint system, u've: 1. base paint 2. metallic/mica paintwork (where u get e small specks of silver/metallic dust w e paint) 3. clear coat/lacquer to protect e metallic paintwork Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I just had my bumper hit by an unknown idiot, so seems liek i have to either respray my bumper or live with some deep scratches man... heart pain.. what a way to start the holidays man... The first time was done at the agent, the door repainting costs me about $600, did not claim insurance. The second one was done by authorised workshop of my insurance company, I did not pay for the total damage, will check my receipt and get back to you. Just my luck to have someone's car to scratch and bump against my right corner causing a few scratches and I noticed my bumper was slightly out of shape as well. Personally.. if it's not too big and obvious... then just touch up with some paint and polish it well.... live with it.... I got a big scratch on the right side mirror... 1 mth after I got a new paint on my car!! .... but I touch it up and don't bother about it.... and indeed...
