Wbucket Clutched November 29, 2005 Share November 29, 2005 You should read an acticle my friend written. Max torque at low rpm doesn't equal to power. The gears play an important part. http://kelisasg.proboards33.com/index.cgi?...read=1132719663 Anyway, I thought Getz 1.1 isn't using the same body as last time, guess I was wrong. Tkseah Turbocharged November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 Don't stretch your finances just becos u wanna practise driving lah.. Many many pple also never get car till years after they get driving license. Remember that if u are young and new probationary driver, your insurance will be higher. So it does makes sense to get license when young, but get car later cos insurance by then also cheaper. Also note that for COE cars, maintainance costs and road tax also higher.. But they do make sense if u dun wanna be tied down too much..
Vit4wd 1st Gear November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 IMO..2nd hand cars are not worth it...might as well get a new one...so you are sure it is FRESH from the factory and virgin...unless u get a lemon of cos some very good deals goin for those who are into their 1st cars.... Chk wif Lucien... Sometimes you see how those brand new "virgin" cars are wacked at the port (in country of manufacture) and them wacked again in S'pore's port and to the showroom. Not all distributors use trailers to transport their cars. And I have seen Hyundai cars being wacked at Sin Ming. These cars are sent to the a workshop (opp Tuff Kote), after CAS at Sin Ming... to be given a thorough clean up & wax. And I have seen these cars being driven off, engine redlined and very rough handling So new cars may not be "virgins" after all.
Payne Neutral Newbie December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 1.0L engine car is good enough because of cheap road tax. Old model Suzuki swift ,Nissan march,Toyota starlet and Daihatsu charade are some of old model 1.0L engine second hand car available at sgcarmart.com. Are they good buy? Swift 1st Gear December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 road tax increased by 10% every year after the 10th year, up to a maximum of 150%...so the road tax u paying for a 1.0L COE car is also about the same for a 1.3L car less than 10 years old. Vit4wd 1st Gear December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 Depends on your luck... provided you don't get a lemon. Ave dep is S$2.5K/annum. These cars are good if you intend to change cars within a few yrs. Annual dep pretty constant. But if you wanna keep 10 yrs, Kia Picanto (M) @ S$36,999 may be a better bet. Icy2fire 2nd Gear December 3, 2005 Share December 3, 2005 i totally agree as my wife wants me to change to a mpv next i was joking that i might as well get the picanto as it can sit 8, 1 more than the wish which i am looking at managed to convince her that it does look kinda cute but even if there's no accident, i can't imagine how sore the legs of those sitting behind with the kids will be

Icy2fire 2nd Gear December 4, 2005 Share December 4, 2005 just a impreza bugeye bought it becuz of its handling even after 4.5 yrs i still find the handling one of the best of the cars i drove b4 would not be changing car if not for the falling car price after calculation, it makes sense for me to "upgrade" or "downgrade"
Vit4wd 1st Gear December 6, 2005 Share December 6, 2005 (edited) Yeah! Change cars before your Imprezza hits its 5th year, and take advantage of the 130% of OMV scrap value, plus high COE rebate of at least S$15K. Picantorian Neutral Newbie December 6, 2005 Share December 6, 2005 for Picanto... 4 adults is just nice.. anything more than that will be a bit cramped and your passengers may feel uncomfortable, cause not much space for them to move about...
