Last few way is to fix cap to try or filters. I understand filter affect the performace hence will be the last. Anyway, any good budget cap. Thanks

Are u DIYing? If so, go to an experienced installer for trouble-shooting.

Doubt that a Cap would solve your "aeroplane" sound problem. Usually caused by some electrical grounding routing an unwanted ground loop back into your signal chain.

If you still want to try installing a cap check this out http://www.performa-audio.com/content/product.html

I believe that u can also find caps at Sim Lim.

Good luck trouble-shooting! [;)]

doubt the cap will solve your problem, may need to check your wiring, anyway there are people selling cap in yahoo auction, go check it out.

aeroplane sound is cos by the electrical problem .nothing to do with cap.u should check the power supply and ground wire and the interconnect rca from the amp.(eg. postive cable lay at left side of the vehicle and negative ground, rca lay at the right side of the vehicle.if possible used a casing for the positive wire to prevent leakage.

capacitor is to store power for your amplifier when they need.if your system need more power ,cap will provide faster power than getting from the battery.

The rule of thumb on capactior size used by most manufacturers is 1 Farad per 1,000 watts (RMS). Using this as your guide, then you would use

a .5 Farad capacitor for systems up to 500 watts

a 1 Farad capacitor for systems up to 1,000 watts

a 2 Farad capacitor for systems up to 2,000 watts

When you calculate the power in your system you want to figure in actual used power, keeping in mind what you actually want running off of the capacitor.

For example, if you had a system that includes a head unit rated for 50 watts total output, an amp to run your highs rated for 350 watts, and an amp on your subs rated for 500 watts, then you would start out by looking at what you want to add capacitance to. The head unit in this example system would not be running any speakers off of it, so it would not be figured in. When considering the amplifiers, remember that the lower the frequency, the more power you need to reproduce it at the same volume as a higher frequency. Because of this (along with knowing what kind of power delivery you already have set up for the system) you may find that you only need to add the capacitor to the subwoofer amp, which at 500 watts would require a .5 Farad capacitor. If you wanted to include the highs amp as well, then you would want to use a 1 Farad capacitor.

Another thing to note on this topic is that you can't really add too much capacitance to your system, so it's safe to overshoot the guidelines. If you wanted to add three 1 Farad capacitors to a 1,000 watt system, it would not be a problem at all.

Thanks for the heads up. Hmmmm..... for a basic system that runs on only an amp rated for say 500 to 600W, is a capacitor required for this case? No other pre-amp or amp for the sub.

Can I run without any cap?

Thanks.

Yes u can run any system without a Capacitor - not an essential system [;)]

Anyway your budget does not allow for it - so u should not even be considering it at all [pirate]

FYI, there is an ongoing difference of opinion as to whether a Cap actually helps or degardes the signal quality [nod]

Personally I am in the camp that believes that Caps do improve the sound quality [thumbsup]

i feel the same way too that add cap will improve SQ.

BTW i running a 4ch amp for my highs and a 2ch powering a 12" sub

i feel that my amps are drawing too much power for my Alternator

to charge.

will adding a cap be better in that case? or shd i upgrade my 30amp batteries to 60amp 1st?

thanx for the help me ice noob [laugh]

on board wif total of 500 to 800w amp power....there's no need of installing a capacitor.....most of the rides electrical system should be able to handle it...unless u got a lot of other electronic components on board....or

u r using ur ride for veri short drive daily...perhaps less than 10km daily....or u r onli using ur ride for nite driving where every time u ve to switch on ur headlights.

If u r clocking an avg 50km or abv driving daily...ur orginal alternator & battery should be able to cope wif...

If the electrical system cant cope...there'll be sympthons...1st to be affected will be the sub woofer....it'll rumble...or gives funny noises.. [rolleyes]

Caps if at all are only good for stabilizing the power requirements for only short bursts of time and not sustained requirements for longer periods.

If the situation is as bad as you have made it out to be (which I actually doubt - unless your amps actually require extraordinary power requirements) then its time to upgrade the alternator even!

You may just wish to install a voltmeter to monitor the car's power system lol! A fellow MCFer actually has a power problem - he even needs to rev when the engine is running to ensure that the voltage is maintained!!! [sweatdrop]

FYI I have 3 amps running at the moment, one of which is supposed to draw max 200A - and I am still running my stock battery with no problems!
