Car_guru Neutral Newbie February 1, 2003 Share February 1, 2003 Hi experienced bros... just wanna ask how often u polish and wax/apply sealent to the vehicle? I think that polishing should be once every 3 months since it strips off the microscopic top layer of the paint, and apply the wax/sealent once a month to maintain the shine... is this the norm? BTW, the products used are Autoglym's Super Resin Polish and the Extra Gloss Protection. ↡ Advertisement
Saaber Neutral Newbie February 1, 2003 Share February 1, 2003 I'm using Autoglym too....I try to do it once every 2 weeks if not once every month.....resin polish first and then at least 3 layers of extra gloss protection....
Car_guru Neutral Newbie February 1, 2003 Author Share February 1, 2003 I see... so the intervals for both polishing and apply sealent are pretty much the same...

Soya Supersonic February 1, 2003 Share February 1, 2003 Wah, polish once every 2 weeks? That's pretty often - your car still got paint left ah? Did hear Autoglym needs very regular application to keep it shiny. I've been using Blue Coral Autowax the last few years. Find it's quite long lasting. Nice deep shine and water still beads after 3.5 mths. Polish every 4 mths or so.
Saaber Neutral Newbie February 2, 2003 Share February 2, 2003 Ai-ya....hand polish only lah...so paint work still ok....anyway, regular polishing helps to maintain the shine longer and help proterct against the elements....
Car_guru Neutral Newbie February 2, 2003 Author Share February 2, 2003 Just wanna ask, when you apply a few layers of Extra Gloss Protection, do u apply all the layers at once, then buff off at once, or do you apply-buff, apply-buff repeatedly?? And if I dun use the claybar to smoothen the paint surface before polishing, issit okay?
Saaber Neutral Newbie February 3, 2003 Share February 3, 2003 For the extra gloss protection, you apply, buff off after one hour or more......apply again and so on..... claybar not a must lah unless your paintwork is very dirty......

Car_guru Neutral Newbie February 4, 2003 Author Share February 4, 2003 (edited) When u apply many layers, will the layers eventually become one, or will they add on to each other?? 'cos I heard only Zaino allows the layers to add on to each other... BTW, the website you gave is very informative... learnt alot from it...
