S15 "Review"

There is some incorrect information with regards to chroma's review of the S15 which i feel that i need to rectify. http://www.mycarforum.com/reviews/reviews.pl?id=729

- dis-proportional weight distribution with weight distributed more to the front = easy to oversteer = also easy to get into accident if not careful

100% wrong. 2 issues with this.

1)If that was the case all fwd cars would oversteer as the weight distribution is towards the front.

2) besides the S13 to S15 series all have a near 50/50 front-rear weight distribution.

- Weaker than the Subaru or Evo when it comes to modifying

Not true. The main reason for this perception is that the rwd config is not as good as the awd when it somes to mid-range distances. Give it sightly longer distances and see if the evo's and sti's can keep up. Also the SR20DET has more bolt on aftermarket parts than any other turbo engine.

- Care must be taken to prevent "blowing up" the engine

That applies to any engine. No if's or buts. The standard block can take as much punishment as the evo and sti. The only real problem with the SR20 is that in some batches, they have a weak rocker arm setup, which can be solved fairly cheaply and easily with a rocker arm stopper kit.

- Small intercooler unable to hold up boost

Intercoolers do not hold up boost in anyway. Only the turbo holds boost. The small intercooler just means that it can't cool as much air as the turbo can handle. Besides, its is as efficient as the bigger wrx top mount (courtesy of its position).

- Only one key available and no other means currently to duplicate it

Errm you better contact tan cheong as all nissan cars come with 2 keys. They should also be able to provide you any number more keys with your vin number.

Edit: btw if tah cheong says they cant do it, tell them don't be lazy as they can!!!

The only problem I faced so far was an over-heated clutch, but that was due to prolonged drifting which went beyond what people normally do on a drift circuit.

The standard clutch is an exedy/daikin item and unless you happen to have too much power (read as 250bhp at the wheels) it should be fine. besides you don't half-clutch in drifting so how did you overheat it??? Can i also ask you what/how long do people drift for while at a practice day??? I know of people on a exedy heavy duty clutch doing practice sessions all day long on consecutive days with 250rwkw (note: its says kilowatts not horsepower here) S13s-s15 which have had no clutch issues other than needing a change as it had worn out.

2 other things...

1) u're too soft man... :p the tein HA's are a bloody soft coilovers thats more suited to street use than anything else.

2)since u said that theres a shortage of parts locally... www.greenline.jp is your good friend!
