Steps to do detailing

Just to find out the 'actual' or 'correct' way of detailing my ride....cos I noe nuts abt detailing....

 

Wat I did thus far, is....

 

Step 1: Spray/splash/rinse ride with water

Step 2: Use sponge and clean ride with car shampoo

Step 3: Use claybar onto areas that are 'rough' (Didn't use too often cos jus started using claybar)

Step 4: Spray/splash/rinse ride with water again

Step 5: Wipe dry with cotton cloth(cheapo orange cloth bought fr petrol kiosk)

Step 6: Apply wax (Soft 99)

Step 7: 'Wipe' off wax

 

Wonder if it's the correct or normal way of doing so. It did improve on the rough surface....no longer got the rough and detestable feel on my ride anymore. Guess must be the claybar's work.

 

Had read abt using sealant....any folks can recommend wat brand of sealant to use or how do I actually use/apply the sealant....

Yah, I'm wondering too : here's my take...

 

1) wash car with shampoo

2) claybar the car - any claybar will do

3) use 3M swirl remover to remove the bird bomb marks

4) claybar the bird bomb marks

5) use Polish

6) use Sealant - Fusso 12 months sealant

7) Wax? Fusso Wax?

my method

 

pour water all over car...

wash with shampoo and sponge

wash down with water

wash with shampoo and clay

wash down with water

dry

polish

seal

wax

do interior

 

sit back and bio bio take photo and mms to all those who dont really give a shiiiiit

"Actual" method is

 

1) Wait for rain;

2) Rain stop quickly run to car while it is still wet;

3) Quickly wipe down car (use chamois fastest);

4) Go back to whatever you were doing.

 

If want to include interior

 

1) Wait for rain;

2) Rain start quickly run to car open doors;

3) Continue from step 2 from previous method;

4) Wipe dry interior.

 

just jokin . if any1 really follow this method......

i did follow this method.. haha

 

today island-wide heavy rain, so brought my car down from MSCP to the unsheltered car park below my block.

 

left car there for 10 mins to let heavy rain loosen all the dirt. after than drove back up the MSCP.

 

and then leave car there until it dries on its own.

 

yea, it's a method, but too tired to wash car these days. every day rain, where got mood to wash???

I have been a member for quite some time and have been reading up on detailing in the forums and have been betailing my car since day one but never post anything as i did not find out anything new or intersting...well but today I just found out something interesting today and would like to share with all of you... i have been using and trying out many different product for may baby, soft99 turtle wax and autoglym and i have to day all these products have almost similar results only the ease of removing and the durability... at first i was very pleased with my first product which is tutle wax platimum as the shine is great and the ease of removal... after that i was reading on how great soft99 the pure carnuba wax and thought of giving it a try and boy was i disappointed as i find it hard to remove until recently i found out something really interesting... i have been using meguire gold class applicator pad to apply and removing using turtle wax microfibre cloth and i have not problem in removing the turtle wax platinium and have a hard time removing the soft99... so i ditch the soft99 one side and went back using turtle wax until recently i change to autoglym ultra deep shine and bought with the perfect poliching cloth to try... application for the product is a breeze until the removing part... it has the same problem with the soft99... very difficult to remove with the turtle wax microfibre and i was very pissed as the product was so expensive at 40 buck... then i sat down and read the instruction again and saw the write remove with 100% cotton cloth so i went up my room and open the polishing cloth and at first glace it does not look convincing at all as it looked like some cheap bandage and look very similar to the U-Care polishing cloth with is being sold in a row in carefour but i did not use it for wax removal as it seemed very rought and have tree's fibre and wood residue stuck on them so i just used it for my leather seats but since i bought and it is from autoglym, which is a quality brand so i tryed it and boy does it amaze me with the ease of removal... the dry wax for the ultra deep shine just falls off but leaving white powdery residue... so i wax curious and took out my soft 99 and did the same thing... and with the microfibre it is so hard to remove and using the autoglym polishing cloth it is so easy to remove... so my conclusion... different cloth works well with different wax... like turtle wax works well with the microfibre but the soft99 and autoglym is easier to remove with cotton cloth so the cloth used is also important for the ease od removal... hope this helps...

Can I summarise your lengthy and hard-to-read post as follows:

 

1) Turtle wax plantium + microfibre for buffing = no

 

2) Soft99 or AG Ultra Deep Shine + microfibre for buffing = plenty of

 

3) Softt 99 or AG ULtra Deep Shine + AG Perfect Polishing Cloth (100% cotton cloth) for buffing = no

 

My personal experience with Soft 99 wax and buffing off with microfibre cloth (it was a cheapo u-care MF) was an OK experience. Not as hard as you described it.
