Decibel Neutral Newbie March 30, 2006 Share March 30, 2006 Hi guys I'm driving an old car that unfortunately comes stock with only the facility to install 4" speakers in front, integrated into the bottom of the dashboard. Am currently running 4" components in front, 6.5" components in the back and a 10" sub, all powered by a single 5ch amp. With such a setup its pretty obvious that most of my sound is coming from the rear and I don't think I can take it for much longer. Furthurmore the imaging in front is just terrible, the left sounds louder than the right, and cuz of the small mid-bass drivers in front, I dont get as much bass as I'd like in front. Have decided to move my 6.5" components in front and move the 4" ones to the rear, however this would involve cutting and modification of the front doors to fit the speakers in. Heres my question: Was quoted $80+ by my regular place near my house for the job, they say it would involve using wood as the surface on my door where the speakers can be installed aren't flat. Is this a reasonable price? I'm also worried whether they'd be able to do a good job, any other recommendation for places in the North? All help appreciated, cheers ↡ Advertisement
Bloggs Neutral Newbie March 30, 2006 Share March 30, 2006 Wah bro do be careful when cutting or moding your door panel. Cos if not done well, water might sip in when it rains. Better to look for "skilled" installers like Chuan Seng, AE, New Gen. etc. If only in North try Chuan Seng. Good Luck!!
