Heng51 2nd Gear October 30, 2012 Share October 30, 2012 I bought a new BMW X6 from "SG Vehicle" (PI) 10 months ago and have sent back to them when i experience some noise. They tell me that it is the gear box problem & the insurance that they bought does not cover and they now say it is wear & tear. They have repaired it and is asking me to pay $7000+ and if not i cannot collect my car. My car is still with them as i cannot agree wear & tear for an automatic gear box 10 months old at 40000km. Can anyone advice me what can i do next? Did they informed you first about the repair before they commenced repairing? And also that it would costs $7k? ↡ Advertisement

Hmm... if i were in this sticky situation, might have stopped them from replacing or repairing until they confirmed on the warranty... If cfm no warranty, then might seek another opinion to see if it is really that expensive or whether it is due to other stuffs. But it is what it is now... you might want to negotiate with them for some discounts. Best is to achieve a win-win amicably. Just my 2 cents.
Cbx750p 1st Gear November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 (edited) They did informed me that to replace it will cost $7000-$8000 but did not say i must pay. They say they will check on the warranty. When you pay, it is water under the bridge. They will give you 1000 and 1 reasons why it is not covered under warranty. You would end up paying nevertheless. When you buy PI, you must be prepared for this kind of headache. They just sell and forget. Fu@k the PIs.....same old 5hit when it comes to warranty. I learnt my lesson ! Never buy from PI ! Japanese, Korean or Continental. It never pays ! Edited November 5, 2012 by Cbx750p

Jazzmeup Clutched July 22, 2013 Share July 22, 2013 Just thought I share some of my experience. I have changed many cars over the years (from Suzuki, Toyota, honda, proton, Honda again, Beemer 318is, Honda yet again, Mitsubishi, Hyundai tasconi, Mazda rx8, Nissan xtrail, Lexus RX350, merc ML350, merc clk280, Beemer 630CI, merc cls 350, Porsche cayenne). 3 of the cars which I drove were PI cars. And all of them gave me problems. Personally, I feel that whilst the car dealer's reputation counts, the fact that the car is a PI one, means that u must be prepared to face some issues. It's quite irritating. But I guess that's wt happens when u want to safe a few dollars. There was once the car got gear boxissue and the workshop asked for $8000 plus for repairs. And the car had done less than 60000km n less thsn 3 years old. I made a few calls and managed to get the issue solved for less than half the price. Btw, for Beemer and mercs, there's an adoption fee if u want the authorized agent to service ur car. $10,000 and up. All these learning experience... And I can definitely say that some so call good workshop may not be up to the mark for some makes.
Jazzmeup Clutched July 22, 2013 Share July 22, 2013 And one more thing which I have learned. If u ar going to buy a second hand car, (PI or not), ask the dealer to allow u to check the gear box. U can get a specialist to do a check if the gear box is ok. If the dealer allows u to do so, n u get the specialist to check for u at a fee, then at least u hv piece of mind. Trust me, it's worth it.
