That one not so simple to explain down here, I did mine with my Installer help and advise, not easy. Best is ask pro Installer to do it for you since you are not so sure [:)]

Hi Bro,

Your installer found the source of the humming noise to be coming from your 2-channel amp right?

At least, your problem is solved now.

Hi Bro,

By the way, did not see you for the last few ICE meetups. Not free har?

Enjoying the P80 and my passive setup so far, waiting for it to 'break-in'. Next upgrade will only be in the future plans not for this year for sure.

Meaning, upgrading to P90 with processor - going passive - add mid-range Focal Be to 3 way, add 2 more amps (2xSteg K12) for mid-range and tweeter while the K24 will drive the mid-bass. This will cost me another bomb.. so just gonna wait to generate the budget first.

if u wanna DIY, take out everything, look at ur cables, your power cable should not be anywhere near the spkr cable and RCA cable.

if already done, do take a look at ur grounding. maybe change ur grounding points and check al the connections.

if u can, drop by the folliwng wednesday, i take a look lah.. (i also DIY guy). maybe can save u a few bucks.. no harm tryin rite? hehe.

aniway. hope to see u at the meetup

You mean Active actually? Suppose to be better if well-tuned, very rewarding [thumbsup] .

It is very challenging to tune a 3 way Active setup [sweatdrop] . Why don't you start/try off with your Pionner P80 2 way Active 1st? [hur]

Nice choice for the Focal Be 3"mid. Last time i enquire at CS was about $800+- [inlove]

Budget lah... if I want to do.. cannot be half-baked.. I need to go all the way mah.. otherwise, leave it first.. I'm retired already.. no more income... I can wait.. coz it's the $$$ issue now.

I got mine from Dynasty Sound Craft in Alexandra Village in a complete package. Jason Chen did not do a breakdown pricing for me... just a package price.

The technical term for this sound is alternator whine the sound is caused by audio cables picking up noises when running along side with power cables. As you have explained that you run your power cables on 1 side of your car and the audio cables on the other side. What about your speaker wires? Did you check all the speaker wires whether are they coil or touching any power cables in any 1 section of the entire length ? If the speaker and power cables have to cross paths in which sometimes is unavoidable, you have to run the speaker wires perpendicular to the power cables.

oic.. i tot that speaker cable should run together with the power cable as they are all wires.... (the speaker cable u refer to is the +/- at the crossover right? i only have that running from my boot to the front crossover.)

thanks for the help!!!
