Aveo5 or Sedan??

Hmm... Same thing happens to me too... My 90km/h on highway feels kind of slow..... Someone who sat in my car before was surprised that we're already cruising at 90km/h... Maybe something is wrong with the Aveo's speedo...?

Its good to feel slow and stable. If u sit in Altis, u will feel fast and not very stable in comparison.

 

u can feel the weight of the heavy body dragging you down but its a trade off b/w acceleration and safety ba..(i believe heavy usually safer)

 

on the other hand, a merc travelling at 90 will feel even slower...

hmmm...u rite...just checked the price list that my bro had when he bought his chevy....no airbag for aveo5. they both just got the abs in common...

 

The Aveo5 comes in 2 version - with airbag and w/o airbag. When I got mine (with airbag), the price diff is abt 1k. The non-airbag version have more colours to choose from while the airbag ones only comes in Bright Yellow, Pearl Black and Samba Red.

 

The new sedan looks classy and with improved user egronomic features but at the price of a heavier body. I went for Aveo5 coz I found that the Aveo5 backseats can be folded up which really increases the boot space whenever I want to and its quite zippy. I'm not really those kinda person that likes my boot to be cluttered with dead weights.

At highway speed it is very stable with continental feel, but engine was noisy though. I drove from Paya Lebar to Eunos stretch of PIE. But the auto tranny was unwilling and slow in downshifting when I floored the pedal.

 

I did an E brake on a deserted rd (asked to do so by SE). Very efficient brakes

 

Same here with my Aveo5.

After it gets past 50km/h, gotta watchout for over-pressing the accelerator coz u'll not realize that u have already hit past 80km/h or 90km/h until it hits about 100km/h when the noise from the wind coming in from the window becomes noisy. I normally drive with aircon off and this frees the engine from providing power to the aircon and can concentrate at what it is supposed to do - move the car.

 

The car is relatively heavy. Its always wise to keep a clear distance from the car infront in a jam as once it starts to move, it'll be a chore to ask it to slow down and often my wifey will complains about me doing e-brakes so often in a jam. I have since learnt to keep at least 1.5 car distance from the front vehicles in a jam.

 

Pickup wise, don't floor the pedal all the way thinking that it is directly proportionate to the pickup - it don't and u'll only end up wasting fuel and getting urself frustrated. I have learned from fellow chevy owners to do 2 things - either switch off aircon or when starting from stationary, step on pedal and release quickly at ard 2k rpm, step again and release at a higher rpm (~2.5 to 3k rpm). Repeat for abt 2 to 3 times and the gear shift will be faster. Do not step sharply on the pedal when u r accelerating unless u wanna hear the engine roars. Normally, my pedal only goes at most 1/4 down.

 

Noise wise, the engine is not really noisy except for the sound coming from the tires. Any gurus to advise on how to reduce this tyre noise? .

Basically i think u have to make a checklist ...to weight out which want suits ur needs and wants...;) For me its Aveo5..
