Jho0001 Neutral Newbie June 22, 2006 Author Share June 22, 2006 let me add....this is prob the last mod I make on my car and I'm looking for the most torque/bhp for the $$$. So far I have the following mods... - EBC - Fuel Regulator - Apexi Rear muffler - X-Power So....what should it be EMS or camshafts & cam gears? Cams will be HKS 264 combo and the EMS I'm think either AEM or HKS F-con (not sure which one S or SZ)?

Jho0001 Neutral Newbie June 23, 2006 Author Share June 23, 2006 That would be one way but I like my car and dont plan to change for another 2yrs...waiting for the EVO X or X.5 (I'm sure the X will have niggly problems which will be fixed on the X.5) These mods will keep me happy until then
Atlantis_boi Clutched June 23, 2006 Share June 23, 2006 (edited) Bigger turbo. Bigger Intercooler Bigger size exhaust Ur up pipe, mid pipe, downpipe Open Pod Filter Enlarge TB Extractor upgrade & finally a reputable ECU. Touching the engine internals, 1) High Cams 2) Forged pistons 3) Port & Polish or a stroker kit to upsize ur engine CC. Jho0001 Neutral Newbie June 23, 2006 Author Share June 23, 2006 Naaah, Airtrek Turbo. Dont want to mod the internals if I'm only keeping for another year or two. Apart from the N1 exhaust, everything else I can move over to the next car (assuming it has a turbo). After discussing with my mechanic, I think the best way to go is the piggy back and tune. I can move it to my next car and it'll give me better torque/bhp than a set of cams. Cheers!
Zimmy83 Neutral Newbie June 27, 2006 Share June 27, 2006 airtrek turbo...hmmz interesting...i am driving a forester turbo..wanting to mod myself..any ideas?dun realli wanna touch much on the internal engine bay stuff...
Jho0001 Neutral Newbie June 29, 2006 Author Share June 29, 2006 Without touching the mechanis. How about add ons.... - boost controller (you'll certainly feel the diff) manual or electronic, depends on your budget, more bang for the buck with the manual. - piggyback (again you'll feel the diff). Cronus Neutral Newbie June 29, 2006 Share June 29, 2006 Jho0001, Great job on what you have done to your Airtrek Turbo. Used to have one. I went the same route as you - upping the turbo displacement and power output. No problems at the lights or off a straight line sprint. However, at the first corner, I am rudely reminded that it is an SUV. Probably the best bang-for-buck SUV in the market but it still falls short of the handling of REXs and the EVOs.I would suggest going the route of improving the suspension, shocks, sway bars and rims/tires route. You probably have more straight line acceleration than most cars on our roads already.
